Eutrophication (as an increase in total phosphorus [TP]) increases harmful algal blooms and reduces the proportion of high-quality phytoplankton in seston and the content of ω-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (eicosapentaenoic acid [EPA] and docosahexaenoic acid [DHA]) in fish. However, it is not well-known how eutrophication affects the overall nutritional value of phytoplankton. Investigation of fungicidal activity of 3-piperazine-bis(benzoxaborole) and its boronic acid analogue

3-Piperazine-bis(benzoxaborole) and its bis(phenylboronic acid) analogue were investigated in terms of their fungicidal activity. The study was carried out against five filamentous fungi: Aspergillus terreus, Fusarium dimerum, Fusarium solani, Penicillium ochrochloron and Aspergillus niger. 3-Piperazine-bis(benzoxaborole) revealed higher inhibitory activity towards the examined strains than standard antibiotic (amphotericin B), whereas bis(phenylboronic acid) proved to be inactive. The study unequivocally showed that the presence of the heterocyclic benzoxaborole system is essential for antifungal action of the examined compounds.

This paper examines the consistency between gender equality in opinions and attitudes and equality in the division of household labor by building a typology of respondents that combines two indexes for two dimensions of gender equality. Abstract Results are presented on scubadiving investigations carried out on thermal manifestations in the area of Panarea (Aeolian Islands). The area investigated falls inside a caldera which extends from the main island to the group of islets located to the northeast. Geochemical modeling of mixing between magmatic and hydrothermal gases: the case of Vulcano Island, Italy

Abstract In this study we present a geochemical approach to model the mixing of magmatic and hydrothermal gases. Our model is based on a rigorous formulation of a perfectly dimensioned system of mass and energy balance equations. Inputs of the equation set are the H2O and CO2 content and gas emission temperature at the surface, together with some constraints gained from the chemical–physical features of the hydrothermal system. The output data give the composition of magmatic gas, mixing fractions and temperatures of gas mixtures in the mixing zone.
