Nonperturbative-transverse-momentum effects and evolution in dihadron and direct photon-hadron angular correlations in p+p collisions at s=510 GeV

Dihadron and isolated direct photon-hadron angular correlations are measured in $p$$+$$p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=510$ GeV. Correlations of charged hadrons of $0.7<p_T<10$ GeV/$c$ with $\pi^0$ mesons of $4<p_T<15$ GeV/$c$ or isolated direct photons of $7<p_T<15$ GeV/$c$ are used to study nonperturbative effects generated by initial-state partonic transverse momentum and final-state transverse momentum from fragmentation. The nonperturbative behavior is characterized by measuring the out-of-plane transverse momentum component $p_{\rm out}$ perpendicular to the axis of the trigger particle, which is the high-$p_T$ direct photon or $\pi^0$. Measurement of thee+e−→bb¯Cross Section betweens=10.54and 11.20 GeV

We report e;{+}e;{-}-->bb[over ] cross section measurements by the BABAR experiment performed during an energy scan in the range of 10.54 to 11.20 GeV at the SLAC PEP-II e;{+}e;{-} collider. A total relative error of about 5% is reached in more than 300 center-of-mass energy steps, separated by about 5 MeV. These measurements can be used to derive precise information on the parameters of the Upsilon(10860) and Upsilon(11020) resonances. In particular we show that their widths may be smaller than previously measured.
SNR measurements of silicon photomultipliers in the continuous wave regime

We report on our Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) measurements carried out, in the continuous wave regime, at different frequencies and at various temperatures, on a novel class of silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs) fabricated in planar technology on silicon p-type substrate. SNR of SiPMs is given by the ratio of the photogenerated current, filtered and averaged by a lock-in amplifier, and the Root Mean Square (RMS) deviation of the same current. In our measurements, we have employed a 10 Hz equivalent noise bandwidth, around the lock-in amplifier reference frequency. On the Weyl transverse frames in type I spacetimes

We apply a covariant and generic procedure to obtain explicit expressions of the transverse frames that a type I spacetime admits in terms of an arbitrary initial frame. We also present a simple and general algorithm to obtain the Weyl scalars $\Psi_2^T$, $\Psi_0^T$ and $\Psi_4^T$ associated with these transverse frames. In both cases it is only necessary to choose a particular root of a cubic expression.

Abstract The highly accurate (experimental accuracy in line positions ~ ( 1 − 3 ) × 10 − 4 cm − 1 ) FTIR ro-vibrational spectra of CH2=CD2 in the region of 600–1300 cm−1, where the fundamental bands ν10, ν7, ν4, ν8, ν3, and ν6 are located, were recorded and analyzed with the Hamiltonian model which takes into account resonance interactions between all six studied bands. Abstract A global frequency and intensity analysis of the infrared tetrad of 12C2H4 located in the 600 – 1500 cm − 1 region was carried out using the tensorial formalism developed in Dijon for X2Y4 asymmetric-top molecules. It relied on spectroscopic information available in the literature and retrieved from high-resolution Fourier transform infrared spectra recorded in Brussels in the frame of either the present or previous work. Abstract Recently, we built a tensorial formalism adapted to the spectroscopy of X2Y4 molecules. It is based on formalisms developed in Dijon for spherical-top molecules. This approach has the advantages to allow a systematic development of rovibrational interactions and to make global analyses easier to perform. We used this tool to carry out an analysis of the ν 12 band of 12C2H4 near 1450 cm - 1 , both in frequencies and intensities. 1240 line positions and 871 intensities, measured in a set of spectra recorded in Brussels, with global root mean square deviations of 1.6 × 10 - 4 cm - 1 and 1.88 % , respectively.
Instantaneous root mean squire value of the acoustic emission as a means of measuring partial discharges

The author presents the measurement results of the parameter A/sub RMS/ for three types of partial discharges (PDs) generated in a typical high-voltage system: on pressboard, on resin, and on glass. A typical run of A/sub RMS/ on an X-Y register is shown. It manifests a relatively stable instantaneous root mean square value of the electric signal converted from the acoustic signal as a function of time. Results obtained for the three surfaces demonstrate that the parameter A/sub RMS/ is perfectly suitable for characterizing PDs measured by the acoustic method. It is univocally connected with the energy of the generated PD. >

Copper (Cu), an essential redox active cofactor, participates in fundamental biological processes, but it becomes highly cytotoxic when present in excess. Therefore, living organisms have established suitable mechanisms to balance cellular and systemic Cu levels. An important strategy to maintain Cu homeostasis consists of regulating uptake and mobilization via the conserved family of CTR/COPT Cu transport proteins. In the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana, COPT1 protein mediates root Cu acquisition, whereas COPT5 protein functions in Cu mobilization from intracellular storage organelles.
