She first asked her father and then her brother to leave the monastic state to which she was forced for patrimonial reasons and to which she never resigned herself. The essay investigates the impact of the premature death of the father on brother and sister groups in noble Roman families of the seventeenth century. More specifically, it explores how this loss reflected on the biographical itineraries of individual members of the sibling unit; how adelphic relations between the orphans were reformulated according to order of birth and first born or cadet status, age, and sex; and what forms of solidarity and competition were engendered by the loss of a father. The luminescence properties of ZnO nanopowders

Pure and Al3+ doped ZnO nanopowders were studied by means of time-resolved luminescence spectroscopy. The powders were synthesized by hydrothermal and plasma methods. These powders were used as a raw material for vaporization-condensation process inside the Solar reactor. The commercially available ZnO nanopowder was studied for a comparison. Exciton to defect band luminescence intensity ratio was estimated in different types of ZnO nanopowders. It was found that nanopowders with whiskers morphology show superlinear luminescence intensity depending on excitation density. The observed effect depends on the average nanoparticle size and on the powder morphology.

Some scholars have suggested that a significant change in homicides and interpersonal violence occurred in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This new type of violence was characterised by strong feelings between the offender and their victim, and the change was connected to modernisation, changes in power balance between men and women, and individualism. Based on the Court of Appeal documents, we deduced that the murder of one’s spouse, father, or brother were the most prevalent homicides within families in Finland at the time. Thuringothyris mahlendorffae n.gen. n.sp. is described on the basis of the skull roof, palate, stapes and much of the postcranial skeleton from the Upper Rotliegend (Tambach-Schichten) of the Thuringian Forest in eastern Germany. The new taxon shows both protorothyridid and some captorhinid features. The interrelationships of the »Protorothyrididae«, primitive Captorhinidae, and earliest Diapsida are reviewd. The tetrapod material is used to reassess the biostratigraphic position of the fossil-bearing horizon.

Abstract Ischia volcano, in Central Italy, has long been known for its copious surface hydrothermal manifestations, signs of a pervasive circulation of hot fluids in the subsurface.
