Predominant role of NF-kappa B p65 in the pathogenesis of chronic intestinal inflammation.
1998
NF-kappa B is a key transcription factor of lymphocytes and macrophages with important regulatory functions in the immune system and inflammatory processes. These functions are at least partially based on its ability to regulate the promoters of a variety of genes whose products, such as cytokines, adhesion molecules and acute phase proteins, are critical for inflammatory processes. In the present study, we describe a method to treat established intestinal inflammation by local or systemic application of antisense phosphorothioate oligonucleotides targeting the translation start site of the p65 subunit of NF-kappa B. Specific downregulation of p65 by administration of antisense phosphorothi…
A mixed-valence Cu(I)–Cu(II) and metal–metal bond containing coordination polymer obtained from an in situ oxidation reaction route
2006
Abstract A new mixed-valence copper coordination polymer with copper–copper metal bonds in a two-dimensional network was generated from an in situ oxidation reaction route under hydrothermal conditions. The synthesis of this coordination polymer demonstrated that the novel compounds that may not be accessible using the known methods could be synthesized via an oxidation reaction route. The reaction conditions are mild enough to keep the building blocks intact during the oxidation and self-assembly process under hydrothermal conditions.
Automated simultaneous triple dissolution profiles of two drugs, sulphamethoxazole-trimethoprim and hydrochlorothiazide-captopril in solid oral dosag…
2003
This article deals with the simultaneous determination of three dissolution profiles with the aid of the new and emerging continuous-flow methodology known as multicommutation. This methodology is based on a flow network of a set of solenoid valves controlled by the computer and acting as independent multicommutators to allow the easy and automated control of flowing solutions. The obtained three dissolution profiles from one dosage form are the whole formulation profile or "global profile" recommended by pharmacopoeias, and, at same time, are recorded two "individual" profiles from two drugs present in the formulation. This is the second attempt to obtain simultaneously three dissolution p…
Is Big Brother Watching Us? Google, Investor Sentiment and the Stock Market
2013
International audience; This paper proposes a novel measure of French investor sentiment based on the volume of internet search reported by Google Trends. We find that our sentiment indicator correlates well with alternative sentiment measures often used in the literature. Furthermore, we find that investor sentiment influences the behavior of mutual fund investors. The results also reveal evidence about short-run predictability in return. An increase in our sentiment index leads to short-term return reversal. The reversal pattern is more pronounced for smaller firms than larger firms, consistent with the predictions of noise trader's models.
CD248 enhances tissue factor procoagulant function, promoting arterial and venous thrombosis in mouse models
2021
BACKGROUND: CD248 is a pro-inflammatory, transmembrane glycoprotein expressed by vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC), monocytes/macrophages, and other cells of mesenchymal origin. Its distribution and properties are reminiscent of those of the initiator of coagulation, tissue factor (TF). OBJECTIVE: We examined whether CD248 also participates in thrombosis. METHODS: We evaluated the role of CD248 in coagulation using mouse models of vascular injury, and by assessing its functional interaction with the TF-factor VIIa (FVIIa)-factor X (FX) complex. RESULTS: The time to ferric chloride-induced occlusion of the carotid artery in CD248 knockout (KO) mice was significantly longer than in wild-typ…
A novel oxovanadate structural type – Synthesis, single crystal structure and magnetic properties of a mixed-valence polyoxovanadate formed by {V17O4…
2007
Abstract A novel polyoxovanadate structural type, with an average nuclearity of V16, formed by a mixture of two different polyoxovananadates: {V15O36(Cl)} and{V17O40(Cl)} has been synthesized and characterized. The title compound, formulated as [Ni(phen)3]2{[V15O36(Cl)]0.5[V17O40(Cl)]0.5} · H2O (1) (phen = 1,10′-phenanthroline), presents two different polyoxovanadate architectures: {V15O36(Cl)} and {V17O40(Cl)}, with the last one representing a new framework type in polyoxovanadate chemistry. Here, we present the synthesis of this novel polyoxovanadate under hydrothermal conditions and its characterization by IR and XPS spectroscopies, elemental and thermogravimetric analysis, redox titrati…
A systematic study of the optical properties of mononuclear hybrid organo-inorganic lanthanoid complexes
2020
A series of hybrid organo-inorganic mononuclear lanthanoid complexes, [n-NBu4]3[LnH(PW11O39)(phen)2]·H2O, denoted as LM4-1-Ln (Ln = DyIII, TbIII, EuIII, NdIII, ErIII, HoIII and GdIII), were synthesized via hydrothermal synthesis and were structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction. The optical properties of all complexes have been investigated in the solid state. The temperature-dependent emission spectra of LM4-1-Dy, LM4-1-Tb and LM4-1-Eu complexes show intense lanthanoid emissions in the visible region, while LM4-1-Nd shows near-infrared (NIR) luminescence. The EuIII complex shows typical strong red emissions from the 5D0 → 7F0,1,2,3,4 transitions, with the CIE colour coordinates (0.6…

Snapshots of the Formation of NaTi3O6(OH)·2H2O Nanowires: A Time-Resolved XRD/HRTEM Study
2013
Layered titanates are important intermediates during the formation of TiO2-related nanostructures in hot concentrated base solution. Microwave-assisted hydrothermal techniques allow a time-resolved ex-situ analysis of the reaction in one-minute intervals by rapid heating and quenching followed by separation and structure analysis of the intermediates. By a combination of powder X-ray diffraction, high resolution electron microscopy (HRTEM), and selected area electron diffraction (SAED) the individual stages of the reaction could be identified. Sodium titanate nanosheets are formed within several minutes by digesting the crystalline TiO2-P25 precursor in NaOH. These nanosheets with a low sod…
Chronic toxicity of fenitrothion to an algae (Nannochloris oculata), a rotifer (Brachionus calyciflorus), and the cladoceran (Daphnia magna).
1996
Chronic toxicity studies were conducted with an algae (Nannochloris oculata), a rotifer (Brachionus calyciflorus), and a cladoceran (Daphnia magna) to determine their relative sensitivities to the organophosphorus insecticide fenitrothion. The cladoceran D. magna was the most sensitive of the three species. The no observed effect concentrations (NOECs) for the study with the algae (1.0 mg/liter) and for the rotifer (1.0 mg/liter) were higher than the NOEC (0.009 microgram/liter) and the LC50 of 24 hr (0.067 microgram/liter) for D. magna. Most of the algal populations were not initially affected by exposure to fenitrothion. Pesticide concentrations higher than 1.0 mg/liter significantly redu…
