International audience; The geochemical behaviour of Rare Earth Elements, Zr and Hf was investigated in the thermal waters of Nevado del Ruiz volcano system. A wide range of pH, between 1.0 and 8.8, characterizes these fluids. The acidic waters are sulphate dominated with different Cl/SO4 ratios. The important role of the pH and the ionic complexes for the distribution of REE, Zr and Hf in the aqueous phase was evidenced. The pH rules the precipitation of authigenic Fe and Al oxyhydroxides producing changes in REE, Zr, Hf amounts and strong anomalies of Cerium. The precipitation of alunite and jarosite removes LREE from the solution, changing the REE distribution in acidic waters.Y–Ho and Z…

Persistent biological foaming phenomena in activated sludge systems due to excess of filamentous microorganisms with hydrophobic properties, such as GALO, Microthrix parvicella and others, are frequently reported everywhere. Nevertheless, even if the number of plants affected by this trouble is high, presently there are no suitable general methods to evaluate properly the phenomenon. Adrenal myelolipoma is a rare benign, non-functioning tumor consisting of fat and hematopoietic tissues. In January 2005 we had observed an adrenal myelolipoma in 70 year old man. During the follow-up for bladder urothelioma, an abdominal CT revaled a well delineated 4x4 cm homogeneous fatty mass in the right suprarenal area with negative attenuation values. The functional study of adrenal gland was normal. The patient underwent videolaparoscopic right adrenalectomy (Gagner technique). Postoperative course was uneventful. Abstract Outdoor air samples collected during the pesticide agricultural application period (spring and summer) from a rural community in the Centre Region (France) were analyzed to investigate temporal variation of atmospheric pesticide levels (2006–2013) and human inhalation exposure in adults, children and infants. We report a case of a congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation of the lung (CCAM). At 12 weeks of gestation, an echogenic lung associated to a hydrothorax was detected. Despite the results of the combined test that informed of a high risk of chromosomopathy, normal karyotype was confirmed after an amniocentesis. The three-dimensional ultrasound inversion mode depicted all the cysts within the fetal lungs as opaque areas that were seen concurrently together, which was compatible with CCAM. Thrombosis in congenital factor (F) VII deficiency was investigated through extensive phenotypic and molecular-genetic studies. Patients with a history of thrombosis among 514 entries in the FVII Deficiency Study Group database were evaluated. Thrombotic events were arterial in one case, disseminated intravascular coagulation in another and venous in seven.
