Volatile oil content of Scots Pine needles (Pinus sylvestris L.)

Badania dotyczą zmienności zawartości olejku eterycznego w igliwiu sosny zwyczajnej w zależności od wieku drzew, garnituru igieł oraz jego usytuowania w koronie. Materiał do badań stanowiło igliwie zebrane z drzewostanów sosnowych w wieku 15, 44 i 89 lat. W przeprowadzonych badaniach średnia zawartość olejków wzrastała wraz z wiekiem drzew. W igliwiu pochodzącym z 15-letniego młodnika zawartość olejku wynosiła średnio 0,46%, a w igliwiu drzewostanów 44- i 89-letnich odpowiednio 0,55 i 0,61%. Średnia zawartość olejku maleje wraz z wiekiem igliwia. Najwięcej olejku zawiera igliwie jednoroczne - 0,56%, najmniej igliwie trzyletnie - 0.48%. A multilevel latent growth modelling of the longitudinal changes in motivation regulations in physical education

The purpose of this study was to examine individual- and classroom-level differences in the longitudinal change in motivational regulations during physical education students' transition from elementary (Grade 6) across middle school (Grades 7 to 9). A sample of 757 Finnish adolescents (M = 12.71, SD = 0.23) participated in this study. Participants of the study responded to questionnaires collected six times. A multilevel latent growth modelling approach was used to analyze the data. Results showed that motivational regulations in physical education developed at different rates during middle school. Nel seguente articolo sono state utilizzate tecniche di Usage Mining al fine di valutare l’efficacia del website di un’azienda di ricettività turistica distinguendo tra comportamento di navigazione di utenti PC e utenti mobile. I risultati ottenuti hanno evidenziato problematiche relative alla progettazione del sito in questione. Using usage mining techniques, the study explores the effectiveness of a tourism business website focussing on the differences between desk and mobile user browsing behaviour. Results indicate important direction for a rethink of the website design.

Antecedents and Consequences of Student-Athletes’ Identity Profiles in Upper Secondary School

The present study examined the identity profiles that upper-secondary-school Finnish student-athletes show, and the extent to which these profiles were associated with their athletic and academic achievements and withdrawal from sports and school. A total of 391 adolescent athletes (51% females) completed assessments of student and athletic identity four times during their time in upper secondary school. Using growth mixture modeling, three groups were identified: (a) dual identity (77%), (b) changing identity (5%), and (c) athletic identity (18%). The aims of this three-wave longitudinal study were to identify and describe trajectories of perceived emotional support from teachers and investigate whether these trajectories were related to the development of intentions to quit upper secondary school via change in perceived mastery climate. Among 1379 Norwegian upper secondary school students, three trajectory subgroups were identified: stable high (84.9%), decreasing (7.8%), and low increasing (7.3%). Approximation of heat equation and backward SDEs using random walk : convergence rates

This thesis addresses questions related to approximation arising from the fields of stochastic analysis and partial differential equations. Theoretical results regarding convergence rates are obtained by using discretization schemes where the limiting process, the Brownian motion, is approximated by a simple discrete-time random walk. The rate of convergence is derived for a finite-difference approximation of the solution of a terminal value problem for the backward heat equation. This weak approximation result is proved for a terminal function which has bounded variation on compact sets.
