The relationship between visible light emission and species fraction of the hydrogen ion beams extracted from 2.45 GHz microwave discharge.

The relationship between Balmer-α and Fulcher-band emissions with extracted H + , H + 2 , and H + 3 ions is demonstrated for a 2.45 GHz microwave discharge. Ion mass spectra and optical measurements of Balmer-α and Fulcher-band emissions have been obtained with a Wien Filter having an optical viewport on the plasma chamber axis. The beam of approximately 1 mA is analyzed for different plasma conditions simultaneously with the measurement of light emissions both with temporal resolution. The use of visible light emissions as a valuable diagnostic tool for monitoring the species fraction of the extracted beams is proposed. peerReviewed
Photoelectron emission experiments with ECR-driven multi-dipolar negative ion plasma source

Photoelectron emission measurements have been performed using a 2.45 GHz ECR-driven multi-dipolar plasma source in a low pressure hydrogen discharge. Photoelectron currents induced by light emitted from ECR zone and H− production region are measured from Al, Cu, Mo, Ta, and stainless steel (SAE 304) surfaces as a function of microwave power and neutral hydrogen pressure. The total photoelectron current from the plasma chamber wall is estimated to reach values up to 1 A for 900 W of injected microwave power. It is concluded that the volumetric photon emission rate in wavelength range relevant for photoelectron emission is a few times higher in arc discharge. peerReviewed
Fracture and fatigue of titanium narrow dental implants: New trends in order to improve the mechanical response

Sixty-four fractured commercially pure titanium (cp-Ti) narrow dental implants (NDIs) with similar macrogeometry and connection designs were studied after different implantation times in humans in order to determine their reliability and to evaluate the causes of the fracture. These NDIs were compared with other similar implants, made with alloyed titanium with 15% Zr and with 12% strained titanium. Original implants were tested under static and fatigue conditions, simulating the tri-axial loads in the mouth by means of a Bionix hydraulic test machine. In the title complex, (NH3OH)2[PtCl6]·2C12H24O6, the PtIV atom is coordinated by six chloride anions in a slightly distorted octahedral geometry. The Pt—Cl bond lengths are comparable to those reported for other hexachloridoplatinate(IV) species. The hydroxyammonium groups act as linkers between the [PtCl6]2− anion and the crown ether molecules. Artykuł przedstawia tematykę związaną z realizacją projektu badawczego podejmującego zagadnienie podmiotowości i tolerancji wśród młodzieży na pograniczu kultur. Młodość jest czasem określania swojej tożsamości, która jest trudna do określenia w okresie zmian globalnych i lokalnych. Przedstawiono wartości preferowane przez młodzież wiejską regionu oraz ich wizję świata i próby określenia własnego miejsca w społeczeństwie. Badania były wspólnym projektem polsko-czeskim, w którym badano młodzież i lokalnych liderów wiejskich.
Deep and Proximate Determinants of the World Income Distribution

This paper studies the deep and proximate determinants of the evolution of the cross-country distribution of GDP per worker in the period 1960–2008 by a novel method based on an information criterion. We find that countries of our sample follow three distinctive growth regimes identified by two deep determinants, namely life expectancy at birth in 1960 and the share of Catholics in 1965, and that each regime is characterized by non-linearities. Growth regimes appear to be the main cause of the increased inequality and polarization, while technological catch-up, proxied by the initial level of GDP per worker, acts in the opposite direction. Celem prowadzonych badań była ocena podatności stali DC01 na niszczenie wodorowe. Badania odporności stali DC01 na niszczące działanie wodoru zrealizowano w oparciu o próbę statycznego rozciągania (slow strain) próbek w powietrzu oraz po polaryzacji katodowej. Wodorowanie stali zrealizowano w wodnym roztworze 0,1N kwasu siarkowego(VI) z dodatkiem 2 mg/dm3 tlenku arsenu(III) jako promotora wnikania wodoru przy gęstości prądu 10 i 20 mA/cm2 w czasie od 3 do 24 godzin. Zawartość wodoru w stali przed oraz po procesie elektrolitycznego nawodorowania oznaczono przy użyciu analizatora LECO ONH836. Public-service provision in clientelist political settlements: Lessons from Ghana's urban water sector

The politics of public-service delivery continues to be neglected under the supposedly more context-sensitive post-Washington Consensus. Using interviews and documentary evidence from Ghana, this article provides an account of the networks of political interference and informal practices in Ghana's public water utility. It argues that, in order to understand why private-sector participation succeeds or fails and why similar arrangements have different outcomes across developing countries, we need to examine the effects of the informal institutional context, particularly the country-specific political settlement in which public-service provision operates.
