In meetings between the silversmiths Pietro Accardi and Silvano Barraja with Luciana Macaluso, professor of architectural design, the events that reduced the church of San Eligio in Palermo to ruins were retraced and a different destiny for the monument has been envisioned. The church was built by the silversmith confraternity in 1650 and dedicated to their patron saint, a silversmith of French origins. The earthquake of 15 January 1940 damaged the structure and, three years later, a bomb destroyed the roof of the main body. The paper analyzes the well-known episode of Caesar visiting the ruins of troy (Luc. 9,9 50-999), focusing in particular on the poet’s desecrating voice, a voice against the Virgilian interpretation of history. Through Caesar’s gestures, words and prayers, Lucan expresses a critical judgment of his actions and of those who, among his successors, first of all Augustus, had advanced the project of a glorious re-founding of Troy. A project destined to be blatantly denied by history.

The citrus groves are injured by infestations caused by indigenous species or old and new phytophagous introduced. Several problems have found in the biological control a optimal solution that allowed a considerable reduction in the use of chemical products. In fact, applications of programs using biological methods has been more successful on citrus than in any other cropping system. Sicily (Italy), due to its location in the Mediterranean Sea, represents an island particularly rich flora and fauna with a characteristic biodiversity different from those of other countries and regions of Italy. Delay in claim settlement and ruin probability approximations

We introduce a general risk model for portfolios with delayed claims which is a natural extension of the classical Poisson model. We investigate ruin problems for different premium principles and provide approximations for the ruin probability. We conclude with some specific models, for example, for IBNR portfolios and portfolios where the pay-off process depends on the claim size.
