Teacher efficacy predicts teachers’ attitudes towards inclusion – a longitudinal cross-lagged analysis

2020

Over the past decades, an abundance of studies have assessed teacher attitudes and self-efficacy beliefs related to inclusive education. However, empirical evidence on the causal relationship between efficacy and attitudes is still rare and inconclusive. Therefore, the present study focused on identifying the interdependent relationship between teachers’ attitudes and their self-efficacy beliefs using a cross-lagged panel design path analysis. A total of 1326 teachers from Finish schools participated in an electronic survey. Teachers’ self-efficacy beliefs were assessed five times and attitudes (attitudes and concerns subscale) three times over three years. The outcomes indicated that both …

Kun perusopetuksen oppilaat oireilevat psyykkisesti : opettajien kokemuksia

2017

The aim of this study was to examine and interpret teachers’ experiences of pupils with emotional and behavioural disordres in comprehensive schools in Finland. The term ‘pupils with emotional and behavioural disorders’ refers here to children who either cannot or do not want to act according to the general expectations in a school climate. Children live in several social settings that affect their development, of which the most important ones are home and the school. It is known that positive teacher-pupil interaction has an advantageous effect on student adaptation, performance and behavior. However, behavior-related problematics affect the forming of interactive relationships. Educationa…

Family- and classroom-related factors and mother–kindergarten teacher trust in Estonia and Finland

2014

This study examined the role of family-related (mother’s education, depressive symptoms and child’s gender) and kindergarten-related (teacher’s experience, teaching practices and class size) factors in mothers’ and teachers’ mutual trust in Estonia and Finland. Six hundred eighteen (206 Estonian and 412 Finnish) mothers of kindergarten children and their teachers (26 Estonian, 49 Finnish) were participated in the study. Both mothers and teachers filled in the questionnaire on trust; teachers’ teaching practices were observed with early childhood classroom observation measure.

Not just daycare: nordic mothers in research, development and innovation navigating work and childcare

2022

Nordic welfare policies mitigate work–childcare reconciliation; however, they are not enough for mothers working in intensive work cultures. In addition, there are differences among the three Nordic states in both work–family policies and cultural norms as to how they should be used. In this article, we study the resources mothers who work in research, development and innovation (R&D&I) in Finland, Norway and Sweden rely on in their work–childcare reconciliation. Thematic analysis of interviews with 74 professionals resulted in identifying four main resources: father involvement, parental leave system and daycare, flexible working, and grandparent help and networks. Our analysis brings to v…

"Osaatteko te uusavuttomat urvelot siellä yhtään mitään?" : Onnibussin Facebook-sivulla esiintyvien asiakaspalautteiden rakennepotentiaali

2018

Tutkimuskysymyksiäni ovat seuraavat kysymykset: 1.Mistä funktionaalisista rakenneosista asiakaspalaute koostuu? a. Mitkä rakenneosat ovat välttämättömiä? b. Mitkä rakenneosat ovat valinnaisia? c. Millaista säännönmukaisuutta rakenneosien järjestäytymisestä löytyy?…
