Search for the Decay of the Higgs Boson to Charm Quarks with the ATLAS Experiment
2018
A direct search for the standard model Higgs boson decaying to a pair of charm quarks is presented. Associated production of the Higgs and Z bosons, in the decay mode ZH→ℓ+ℓ−c¯c is studied. A data set with an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb−1 of pp collisions at √s=13TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC is used. The H→c¯c signature is identified using charm-tagging algorithms. The observed (expected) upper limit on σ(pp→ZH)×B(H→c¯c) is 2.7 (3.9+2.1−1.1) pb at the 95% confidence level for a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV, while the standard model value is 26 fb.
MACROLEPIDOPTERA SPECIES WITH VULNERABLE STATUS AND THEIR IMPACT ON THE PROTECTED AREA OF DUMBRAVA SIBIULUI
2013
The present work is a part of a complet study concerning of Macrolepidoptera from the forest “Dumbrava Sibiului” in the Sibiu county. They are presented only the species found by myself for the frist time from this area. I mention that these species were not found by me in the five collections of Lepidoptetra studied by me and preserved at the Natural Hystory Museum in Sibiu.
The Center for Taste and Food Sciences (CSGA)
The CSGA is structured into 10 research teams, the ChemoSens platform (IBiSA certified, ISO9001) and a technical platform as well as research support services. The CSGA has about 200 staff members, including 133 permanent staff (researchers, teacher-researchers, physicians, engineers, technicians and support staff) and about 60 non-permanent staff (fixed-term contracts, PhD students, post-doctoral fellows, trainees). The CSGA project is part of the general theme of the study of eating behavior, its regulation and consequences on well-being and health. The general objective is a better understanding of the physicochemical, biological and psychological mechanisms underlying sensory perception…
Medical Chemistry Group
The Medical Chemistry Group is focused on medicinal and bioinorganic chemistry, mainly related to peptides and proteins. In general, projects on the interaction of biologically important macromolecules with other molecules or metal ions are underway. Two National Science Centre grants are being realized by group members. One of them is about hot topic – SARS-Cov2/virus protein interaction with human receptor. The second is about interaction of iron ions with small heat shock protein, which is involved in ferroptosis (programmed cell death dependent on iron). Cooperation includes research centers in Poland and abroad, e.g. University of Wroclaw and USA, but also other faculties of University…
Lipides, Nutrition, Cancer
The LNC 'Lipids, Nutrition, Cancer' research group aims to promote basic and clinical research in the fields of Cancer, Nutrition, Lipid Biology and Cardiometabolic Risk. The teams have expertise in various and complementary thematic fields in: - physico-chemical analysis (pheromones, odorant, sapid or "trigeminal" molecules), - analysis of the release of compounds from the food matrix (oral physiology), - analysis of sensory and cognitive phenomena associated with the processing of sensory information and behaviors, - analysis of the biological mechanisms involved in chemical communication, sensory perceptions and food intake, - analysis of the role of the external and internal environment…
