Saveur amère : de la molécule au comportement

2020

Reversible self-assembly of metal chalcogenide/metal oxide nanostructures based on Pearson hardness.

2010

Nanotechnology has reached a stage of development where not individual nanoparticles but rather systems of greater complexity are the focus of concern. These complex structures incorporate two or more types of materials, an example of which is the formation of metal–semiconductor hybrids, which effectively combine the properties of both materials. The assembly of multicomponent nanoparticles from constituents with different optical, electrical, magnetic, and chemical properties can lead to novel functionalities that are independent of the individual components and may be tailored to fit a specific application. These applications include such far-reaching challenges as solar energy conversio…

RAS proteins and control of the cell cycle inSaccharomyces cerevisiae

1995

Genes related to the mammalian H-, K-, and N-ras oncogenes were identified in S. cerevisiae by DNA hybridization techniques (for reviews, see Tamanoi, 1988; Gibbs and Marshall, 1989; Broach and Deschenes, 1990). According to the rules of yeast genetics (dominant genes are indicated by three capital letters followed by a number), the yeast genes were denominated RAS1 and RAS2 (collectively referred to as RAS). The corresponding RAS1 and RAS2 proteins were 309 and 322 amino acids long, respectively. The sequence similarity between the human and yeast proteins was very high, reaching 90% identity at the level of the N-terminal 80 amino acids. As a consequence, perfect sequence conservation was…

Deficient DNA mismatch repair (dMMR) may be caused by germline or somatic mutations in mismatch repair genes ( MLH1 , MSH2 , MSH3 , MSH6 and PMS2 ) or through epigenetic silencing of MLH1 .1 dMMR induces a hypermutator phenotype, also known as microsatellite instability (MSI). Next-generation sequencing identifies MSI in 12 cancer types. The highest prevalence is seen in endometrial cancer (31.4%), followed by colorectal cancer (19.7%) and gastric cancer (GC, 19.1%). MSI was related to better prognosis for colorectal cancer and GC . Moreover, the dMMR/MSI hypermutator phenotype is thought to produce large numbers of immunogenic neoantigens that can be recognised by immune cells, leading to …

Electron Irradiation Effects on Single‐Layer MoS 2 Obtained by Gold‐Assisted Exfoliation

2022

International audience; Mechanical exfoliation assisted by gold is applied to obtain good quality large lateral size single-layer MoS2. The effects of 2.5 MeV electron irradiation are investigated at room temperature on structural and electronic features by Raman and microluminescence spectroscopy. The exciton recombination emission in the direct bandgap of single-layer MoS2 is affected during irradiation starting from the minimum explored dose of 1 kGy. At higher doses, Raman bands show no relevant modifications whereas the exciton emission is quenched, suggesting that irradiation-induced point defects affect exciton dynamics.

Molecular phylogeny and ultrastructure of the lichen microalga Asterochloris mediterranea sp. nov. from Mediterranean and Canary Islands ecosystems

2015

The microalgae of the genus Asterochloris are the preferential phycobionts in Cladonia, Lepraria and Stereocaulon lichens. Recent studies have highlighted the hidden diversity of the genus, even though phycobionts hosting Cladonia spp. in Mediterranean and Canarian ecosystems have been poorly explored. Phylogenetic analyses were made by concatenation of the sequences obtained with a plastid -LSU rDNA- and two nuclear -ITS rDNA and actin- molecular markers of the phycobionts living in several populations of Cladonia convoluta-C. foliacea complex, C. rangiformis and C. cervicornis species widely distributed in these areas in a great variety of substrata and habitats. A new strongly supported …
