Abstract We describe the case of a stage Ia endometrioid-like yolk sac tumor (YST) of the ovary, which was originally misdiagnosed as a malignant struma ovarii and not treated with adjuvant chemotherapy. After 12 years, a contralateral dermoid cyst was excised along with a small omental nodule of partially necrotic and calcified endometrioid-like YST. No tumor was detected in several other biopsy specimens, and a peritoneal lavage was negative for tumor cells. Since there was no evidence of remaining tumor and the serum α-fetoprotein (AFP) level was normal after the second operation, the patient was followed. Identification of control strategies during agility performance is significant in understanding movement behavior. This study aimed at providing a fundamental mathematical model for describing the motion of participants during an agility drill and to determine whether skill level constrained model components. Pyomyositis of the iliacus muscle complicated with septic sacroiliitis

We report a rare case of pyomyositis of the iliacus muscle in a 29-year-old woman. After 2 weeks of adequate treatment, secondary septic sacroiliitis occurred, a complication that had not been described previously. Pyomyositis of the iliacus muscle must be considered in the differential diagnosis of acute pain in the hip region.

Hurler-Scheie syndrome is caused by alpha-l-iduronidase deficiency. Enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) can improve physical capacity and reduces organomegaly. However, the effect on bradytrophic connective tissue is limited. As intravenously administered enzyme cannot cross the blood-brain barrier, the therapy of choice for the more severe Hurler syndrome is haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT). In the more attenuated Scheie syndrome, neurological impairment is less severe; therefore, ERT may be appropriate to treat these patients. Objective: To report and discuss the multi-domain impact of elosulfase alfa, with focus on tertiary and composite endpoints, in the 24-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 3 trial in patients with Morquio A syndrome (mucopolysaccharidosis IVA). Methods: Patients with Morquio A syndrome >= 5 aged years were randomized 1:1:1 to elosulfase alfa 2.0 mg/kg/week (qw; N = 58), elosulfase alfa 2.0 mg/kg/every other week (qow; N = 59), or placebo (N = 59) for 24 weeks. The effect of cathartic agents on transmucosal electrical potential difference in the human rectum.

Active ion transport in the colon is generating a transmucosal electrical potential difference (PD) of about 40 mV. Cathartic agents inhibit electrolyte and water net-absorption or cause net-secretion which should be reflected in a change of PD. In 83 normal subjects the effect of an isotonic eletrolyte solution (control) and different cathartic agents on rectal PD was tested: Laxatives (bisacodyl, rhein), bile acids (cholic and deoxycholic acid), fatty acids (oleic and ricinoleic acid) and cardiac glycosides (meproscillarin, digitoxin, digoxin).
