Daiļliteratūras izmantošana 5–6 gadīgu bērnu tikumisko vērtību attīstības sekmēšanai
2018
2. Anal…
Renesanses laikmeta historiogrāfiskās tradīcijas 16.gadsimta angļu vēsturnieku darbos
2017
Par Renesanses laikmeta sākumu Anglijā ir pieņemts uzskatīt Tjudoru dinastijas nākšanu pie varas 1485.gadā. Pateicoties humānisma vēsmām, periods atnesa ievērojamas pārmaiņas daudzās dzīves sfērās. Transformāciju piedzīvoja arī angļu vēsturnieku pārstāvētās historiogrāfiskās tradīcijas. Maģistra darba mērķis ir analizēt 16. gadsimta Anglijas vēsturnieku darbus ar nolūku konstatēt, kādā veidā tajos izpaudās Renesanses laikmetam raksturīgas vēstures izprašanas un rakstīšanas tendences. Darba rezultātā tika secināts, ka 16. gadsimta angļu historiogrāfijā nav izveidojusies spēcīga “humānistiskā” skola klasiskajā šī vārdā izpratnē. Ārējo faktoru simbioze lika vēsturniekiem pārvērtēt vēsturisko s…
WASTE PLASTICS MANAGEMENT IN MUNICIPALITIES: LOGISTICS AND PROCESSES IN LOMBARDIA (NORTHERN ITALY)
2013
A partnership of 49 Municipalities lying in Lombardia (Northern Italy) and belonging to the District “Monza and Brianza” has entrusted the management of the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) to two Public Companies: “C.E.M. Ambiente S.p.A.” - which owns and operates a transfer station and a multi-material centre - and “SERUSO S.p.A.”, whose single facility is set up and equipped for a high performance factory sorting of the dry fraction of the urban waste. The catchment area is populated by 448 000, living in an area of 366 km2. The management system starts with household sorting for multi-bin curbside collection; followed by hauling to selection and physical treatment facilities; and last, trans…
Particle balance and return loops for microplastics in a tertiary-level wastewater treatment plant.
2021
Highlights: Dewatering by centrifugation was a step that removed a high number of MPs from the sludge. Sludge retained especially the fibrous microplactics. Reject water transported microplastics inside a wastewater treatment plant. Disc filter-based tertiary treatment ensured removal of 99% of microplastics in wastewater. Microplastics (MPs) from households, stormwater, and various industries are transported to wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), where a high proportion of them are captured before discharging their residuals to watersheds. Although recent studies have indicated that the removed MPs are mainly retained in wastewater sludge, sludge treatment processes have gained less atten…
Towards a new protocol for field measurements of greenhouse gases from wastewater treatment plant
2016
Emissions into the atmosphere of greenhouse gases (GHGs), i.e., carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide from wastewater treatment plants are of increasing concern in the water industry. In order to produce useful and comparable information for monitoring, assessing and reporting GHG emissions from wastewater treatment plants, there is a crescent need for a general accepted methodology. This paper aims at proposing the first protocol for monitoring and accounting GHG emissions from wastewater treatment plants taking into account both direct and internal indirect emissions focusing on sections known to be major responsible of GHG emissions i.e. oxidation tanks and sludge digestion. The main…
Biopolymer Recovery from Aerobic Granular Sludge and Conventional Flocculent Sludge in Treating Industrial Wastewater: Preliminary Analysis of Differ…
2022
The recovery of biopolymers from sewage sludge could be a crucial step in implementing circular economy principles in wastewater treatment plants (WWTP). In this frame, the present study was aimed at evaluating the simultaneous production of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) and extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) obtainable from the treatment of agro-industrial wastewater. Two biological enrichment systems, aerobic granular sludge (AGS) and a conventional activated sludge operating as a sequencing batch reactor (SBR), were monitored for 204 and 186 days, respectively. The maximum biopolymers accumulation capacity was close to 0.60 mgPHA-EPS gVSS−1 in the AGS when operating at 3 kgCODm…
Installazioni idrauliche nell’area sacra a Sud del tempio di Zeus Olympios ad Agrigento
2020
This paper will test the relationship between water and cult in the southern part of the sanctuary of Zeus Olympios at Agrigento. The most singular feature of this area is a monumental pool, besides some cisterns, buildings and a small oikos temple. The sacred area was investigated during the 20th century by E. Gabrici and E. De Miro and was referred to a chthonian cult, without deepening the features and modalities of ritual activities. Besides, it was not considered at all as a part of the sanctuary of Zeus, depending on the late chronology assigned to the main buildings. After having defined the character of the context through an analysis of the architectural remains, the votive and rit…
Le nymphai e l’acqua in Sicilia: contesti rituali e morfologia dei votivi
2012
L'articolo analizza la fenomenologia (contesti, votivi, iconografie) dei culti relativi all'acqua e al nymphai in Sicilia The paper analyzes the phenomenology (contexts, votives, iconographies) of the cults relating to water and nymphai in Sicily
Physical dispersion and disappearance of bacteria in the Golfo di Palermo: the results of two surveys.
2012
This paper reports on some results of two surveys at sea carried out in the surroundings of a urban wastewater discharge on the coast of the Golfo di Palermo, western Sicily (Italy). At the time of the surveys (year 2005) the stretch of water lying before the central part of the capital town received the untreated wastewater originating from about 200 000 inhabitants, which was discharged on-shore without any prior treatment by the free-surface outfall of “Porta Felice main sewer”. This outfall has crucial importance in the water quality; indeed, the Municipality is steadily implementing a plan featuring an intercepting main sewer along the coast and some pumping stations to connect all the…
Proceedings of Frontiers International Conference on Wastewater Treatment May 21-14, 2017, Palermo, ITALY
2017
Today multidisciplinary is a key and a must for solving issues in the water field. The works in several International Water Association Specialist Groups have demonstrated the importance of both innovative technologies and mathematical modelling, and that the exchange of scientific and technical information among researchers and practitioners involved in these fields is crucial for effectively advancing knowledge.
