IMPROVEMENT OF PICTURE RECALL BY REPETITION IN PATIENTS WITH DEMENTIA OF ALZHEIMER TYPE
1997
The evidence for positive effects of repetition on recall performance in patients with dementia of Alzheimer type is equivocal. This may be due to the difference repetition conditions used. The aim of this study was therefore to evaluate the effects of different repetition modes on the improvement of recall performance in demented subjects. Twenty-four patients with Alzheimer type dementia and 24 control subjects with remitted depression were included in the study. Pictures were presented repeatedly using different presentation modes at a constant total presentation time. Free recall was tested repeatedly after different periods of delay (0-8 hours). Immediate and delayed list repetition si…
Depression, Somatization, and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in Children Born of Occupation After World War II in Comparison With a General Population.
2015
At the end of World War II and during the first decade after the war, roughly 200,000 children were fathered in intimate contacts between German women and foreign soldiers. The experiences of these German occupation children (GOC) have been so far described in case reports and from historical perspective only. Research on psychosocial consequences of growing up as a GOC has been missing so far. This study examined traumatic experiences, posttraumatic stress disorder, somatization, and depression in GOC (N = 146) using self-report instruments: Posttraumatic Diagnostic Scale and Patient Health Questionnaire. Findings have then been compared with a representative birth cohort-matched sample fr…
Misidentification Delusions : prevalence in different types of dementia and validation of a structured Questionnaire
2016
International audience; Misidentification delusions (MDs) are considered relatively rare psychopathologic phenomena that may occur within the context of psychiatric or neurological conditions. The purpose of this study was to assess the prevalence of MD in different types of dementia, correlate the presence of MD with demographic and clinical variables, and validate a specific questionnaire. We examined 146 subjects with Alzheimer disease, 21 with Lewy body dementia, 6 with frontotemporal dementia, and 13 with vascular dementia (subcortical type), who were consecutively enrolled in the study from 2 Memory Clinics. Patients had a mean age of 78.7±6.4 years and an Mini-Mental State Examinatio…
Effect of comorbid anxiety, depressive, and personality disorders on treatment outcome of somatoform disorders
1999
Comorbid mental disorders of DSM-IV axis I and axis II have repeatedly been found to be a negative predictor for the treatment of axis I disorders, although recent contrary findings exist. Little is known about the effect of comorbidity on the therapy outcome of somatoform disorders. We compared three types of comorbidity, (1) personality disorders (PDs), (2) major depression (MDD) and anxiety (ANX) disorders, and (3) PDS and MDD and ANX, with regard to their relevance for the treatment outcome of somatoform disorders. One hundred twenty-six inpatients were assessed at least 4 weeks before admission to treatment, upon admission, and again at discharge. Somatoform, hypochondriacal, and depre…
Reliability and validity of the Finnish version of the prosthesis evaluation questionnaire
2018
Background: Thus far there have been no specific patient-reported outcome instrument in Finnish for health-related quality of life (HRQoL) assessment after major lower extremity amputation and successful prosthesis fitting. Methods: The prosthesis evaluation questionnaire (PEQ) was translated and cross-culturally adapted into Finnish. Participants completed a questionnaire package including the Finnish version of the PEQ and the 15 D HRQoL instrument. Scales (n = 10) were tested for internal consistency, floor-ceiling effect, and reproducibility for which participants completed the PEQ twice within a 2-week interval. Validity was tested by estimating the correlation between the 15 D index a…
The profiles of health care utilization among a non-depressed population and patients with depressive symptoms with and without clinical depression
2019
Objective: To examine health service (HS) utilization profiles among a non-depressive population and patients with depressive symptoms (DS) with and without clinical depression. Design, subjects and setting: The study population was based on primary care patients with DS scoring ≥10 in the 21-item Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and who were at least 35 years old and had been referred to depression nurse case managers (n = 705). Their psychiatric diagnosis was confirmed with the Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview (M.I.N.I.). Of these patients, 447 had clinical depression. The number of patients with DS without clinical depression was 258. The control group consisted of a random s…
Mecanismos de coordinación estructural, no estructural e informal: Propuesta y validación de escalas de medida
2008
Large monolithic silica-based macrocellular foams with trimodal pore system.
2003
Silica-based materials with hierarchical pore systems at three different length scales (small mesopores–large mesopores–macropores) have been prepared through a nanotectonic approach by using mesoporous nanoparticles as building blocks; the resulting materials present a highly accessible foam-like architecture and can be prepared as large monoliths. Communication: anion-specific response of mesoscopic organization in ionic liquids upon pressurization
2018
One of the outstanding features of ionic liquids is their inherently hierarchical structural organization at mesoscopic spatial scales. Recently experimental and computational studies showed the fading of this feature when pressurising. Here we use simulations to show that this effect is not general: appropriate anion choice leads to an obstinate resistance against pressurization. Published by AIP Publishing.
Sejas un žokļu traumas Paula Stradiņa Klīniskajā Universitātes slimnīcā
2020
