EL ARTÍCULO 324 DEL CÓDIGO ORGÁNICO DE TRIBUNALES Y EL PRINCIPIO DE IGUALDAD EN EL ORDENAMIENTO JURÍDICO CHILENO

2005

This paper examines the rule embodied in the second paragraph…

Immunogold Labeling to Detect Streptococcus pyogenes Cas9 in Cell Culture and Tissues by Electron Microscopy

2019

Final publication is available from Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers https://doi.org/10.1089/crispr.2019.0032. The CRISPR-Cas9 system is a powerful and yet precise DNA-editing tool in rapid development. By combining immunogold labeling and electron microscopy with the novel CRISPR-Cas9 system, we propose a new method to gain insight into the biology of this tool. In this study, we analyzed different Cas9-induced systems such as HEK293T cell line, murine oligodendrocyte progenitor cells, brain and liver to detect Cas9 expression by immunoelectron microscopy. Our results show that while Cas9 expression could be found in the nuclei and nucleopores of transfected HEK293T cells, in transfected…

Cadmium clusters in CdI2layered crystals: the influence on the optical properties

2007

The influence of overstoichiometric Cd i atoms on the optical properties of cadmium iodide layered crystals has been investigated. The results of optical absorption, luminescence, and luminescence excitation studies of CdI 2 crystals with controlled deviation from stoichiometric composition allow observing correlations between the Cd i concentration and features in absorption and emission spectra up to concentrations of 10 18 cm -3 . At higher concentrations the overstoichiometric cadmium atoms form clusters, which were observed using scanning electron microscopy. The extinction spectra of (CdI i ) n clusters are calculated in the frame of Mie theory and are found to correlate with the opti…

Multianalytical Approach to explain the darkening process of hematite pigment in paintings from ancient Pompeii after accelerated weathering experime…

2013

[EN] In this paper, recently excavated fresco painting fragments from the House of Marcus Lucretius (Pompeii) and not exposed to the atmosphere since the eruption of the Mount Vesuvius were subjected to a controlled SO2 atmosphere and high relative humidity. These experiments were conducted in order to simulate under accelerated conditions the possible deterioration of the hematite pigment and plaster. The mineralogical transformation of the polychromy and plaster was monitored using mainly Raman spectroscopy, a non-destructive technique, but also infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and scanning electron microscopy energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS). After different exposure cycles to…

Crystallized nano-sized alpha-tricalcium phosphate from amorphous calcium phosphate: microstructure, cementation and cell response

2015

New insight on the conversion of amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) to nano-sized alpha tricalcium phosphate (α-TCP) provides a faster pathway to calcium phosphate bone cements. In this work, synthesized ACP powders were treated with either water or ethanol, dried, crystallized between 700 and 800 °C, and then cooled at different cooling rates. Particle size was measured in a scanning electron microscope, but crystallite size calculated by Rietveld analysis. Phase composition and bonding in the crystallized powder was assessed by x-ray diffraction and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. Results showed that 50 nm sized α-TCP formed after crystallization of lyophilized powders. Water trea…

Histomorphological study of the bone regeneration capacity of platelet-rich plasma, bone marrow and tricalcium phosphate Experimental study on pigs

2009

Introduction: Bone defects are rather common after oral surgery and may prove difficult to repair. Objective: We provide a histomorphological analysis of the bone regenerative capacity of platelet-rich plasma at different concentrations and the extraction of platelet-rich bone marrow, compared with -tricalcium phosphate. Methodology: We performed an experimental study on 8 pigs, in which we performed trepanations of the mandible in order to place the materials to be studied. Using an electron microscope, we observed the samples obtained and took a series of photographs in order to analyze the samples through a gray-scale histogram system. Results: Ossification phenomena were present in 96% …

Galvanic deposition and characterization of brushite/hydroxyapatite coatings on 316L stainless steel

2016

In this work, brushite and brushite/hydroxyapatite (BS, CaHPO4·H2O; HA, Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2) coatings were deposited on 316L stainless steel (316LSS) from a solution containing Ca(NO3)2·4H2O and NH4H2PO4 by a displacement reaction based on a galvanic contact, where zinc acts as sacrificial anode. Driving force for the cementation reaction arises from the difference in the electrochemical standard potentials of two different metallic materials (316LSS and Zn) immersed in an electrolyte, so forming a galvanic contact leading to the deposition of BS/HA on nobler metal. We found that temperature and deposition time affect coating features (morphology, structure, and composition). Deposits were char…

Malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the renal capsule

1981

We report about an extremely rare case of malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) of the renal capsule. The tumor is composed of fibroblast-like cells arranged in a storiform pattern and histiocyte-like cells with multinucleated giant cells, both showing no iron reaction. Characteristic of the histiocytic quality of the tumor are numerous PAS-positive intracytoplasmic droplets which can be identified as erythrophagosomes only under the electron microscope. Emphasis is put on the preoperative differential diagnosis of the tumor from renal cell carcinoma as well as on its histogenesis and prognosis.

Evaluating the predictive power of sun-induced chlorophyll fluorescence to estimate net photosynthesis of vegetation canopies: A SCOPE modeling study

2016

Abstract Progress in imaging spectroscopy technology and data processing can enable derivation of the complete sun-induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF) emission spectrum. This opens up opportunities to fully exploit the use of the SIF spectrum as an indicator of photosynthetic activity. Simulations performed with the coupled fluorescence–photosynthesis model SCOPE were used to determine how strongly canopy-leaving SIF can be related to net photosynthesis of the canopy (NPC) for various canopy configurations. Regression analysis between SIF retrievals and NPC values produced the following general findings: (1) individual SIF bands that were most sensitive to NPC were located around the fir…

Highly Fluorescent and Water-Soluble Diketopyrrolopyrrole Dyes for Bioconjugation

2015

International audience; The preparation of highly water-soluble and strongly fluorescent diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) dyes using an unusual taurine-like sulfonated linker has been achieved. Exchanging a phenyl for a thienyl substituent shifts the emission wavelength to near λ=600 nm. The free carboxylic acid group present in these new derivatives was readily activated and the dyes were subsequently covalently linked to a model protein (bovine serum albumin; BSA). The bioconjugates were characterized by electronic absorption, fluorescence spectroscopy and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, thus enabling precise determination of the labeling density (ratio DPP/BSA about 3 to 8). Outstanding values of…
