Soft Topographic Map for Clustering and Classification of Bacteria

In this work a new method for clustering and building a topographic representation of a bacteria taxonomy is presented. The method is based on the analysis of stable parts of the genome, the so-called “housekeeping genes”. The proposed method generates topographic maps of the bacteria taxonomy, where relations among different type strains can be visually inspected and verified. Two well known DNA alignement algorithms are applied to the genomic sequences. Topographic maps are optimized to represent the similarity among the sequences according to their evolutionary distances. In this paper we want to provide a contribution to the analysis of territorial disparities considering Italian Local Labour Systems as basic geographic units. Local Labour Systems (LLS) represent the result of the spatial aggregation of neighbouring municipalities based on the daily commuting flows of local population owing to work reasons. Thus LLS can be described as self-contained economic-territorial spaces, constituted by two or more municipalities, which provide a basis to sub-provincial analysis, being a useful tool for the implementation of local development policies without relations with administrative zones. The aim of the paper is to examine the influence of spatial agglomeration on the employment growth in the sicilian local labor systems. In this paper we want provide a methodological contribution to agglomeration literature. Quantifying residential PV feed-in power in low voltage grids based on satellite-derived irradiance data with application to power flow calculations

AbstractA scheme using satellite-derived irradiance measurements to model the feed-in power of residential photovoltaic (PV) systems in a low voltage distribution grid is described. It is validated against smart meter measurements from a test site with 12 residential PV systems in the city of Ulm, Germany, during May 2013 to December 2014. The PV feed-in power is simulated in a 15-min time resolution based on irradiance data derived from Meteosat Second Generation satellite images by the physically based retrieval scheme Heliosat-4. Lai sasniegtu mērķi, sākotnēji teorētiski tika analizēts mājasdarbu jēdziens un mājasdarbi kā mācību procesa sastāvdaļa, pētot pedagogu attieksmi pret mājasdarbu uzdošanu, vecāku iesaisti mājasdarbu pildīšanas procesā, skolēnu motivāciju un atgriezenisko saiti. Tātad svarīgs ir gan pareizi un atbilstoši izstrādāts mājasdarbs, gan uzdošanas process, sniegtais atbalsts un arī dažādu faktoru ietekme uz to izpildi. Koncepcja nowoczesnego i zrównoważonego rozwoju miast – smart city, oferując rozwiązania z wykorzystaniem najnowocześniejszych technik ICT, pozwala kreować niemal utopijne w swych założeniach miasta. W praktyce jednak, choć zaawansowane technologicznie, zdają się mijać z oczekiwaniami najważniejszych aktorów miast – ich mieszkańcami, a w skrajnych przypadkach nawet ich brakiem. Niniejszy artykuł ma być próbą wskazania aspektów, w których teoria budowy nowoczesnych miast w zderzeniu z praktyką zawodzi.

In this paper we examine the influence of spatial dependence on the estimation of the effect of standard measures of agglomeration on local growth. The hypothesis is that the forces of agglomeration do not use up their effects inside a single local area but extend to wider geographic areas, particularly on the adjacent territories. To account for these spatial effects, we propose a modification of the traditional agglomeration index, suggested by Maurel and Sedillot (1999), including both agglomeration of economic activity within an area and neighbour effects, that is, the effect of agglomeration that comes from neighbouring areas. A spatial analysis of Italian unemployment differences

Using spatial econometric models, this paper focuses attention on the spatial structure of provincial unemployment disparities of Italian provinces for the year 2003. On the basis of findings from the economic literature and of the available socio-economic data, various model specifications including supply- and demand-side variables are tested. Further we use ESDA analysis as equivalent to integration analysis on time series; therefore it is applied on each variable, dependent and independent, involved in the statistical model.
