Stopping cross-section measurements of 4He in TiN1.1O0.27

Abstract The stopping cross-section for 4He projectiles in TiNx compounds has been measured using the backscattering method. A multi-compound marker layer deposited between the test film and the substrate was used to obtain the stopping cross-section at several energies with one energy of the incident beam. Two RBS spectra at definite tilt angles of the sample are taken for each beam energy. The assistance of computer codes to synthesize RBS spectra is very useful to obtain the pertinent information from the displacements of the peaks of the marker layers. Stopping cross-section values are obtained with an estimated uncertainty of about 6%.

In this paper, we perform an in-depth analysis of the single-event effects observed during testing at medical electron linacs and an experimental high-energy electron linac. For electron irradiations, the medical linacs are most commonly used due to their availability and flexibility. Whereas previous efforts were made to characterize the cross sections at higher energies, where the nuclear interaction cross section is higher, the focus of this paper is on the complete overview of relevant electron energies. Critical issues in the PD testing methodology for XLPE-insulated MV cables: An experimental case

This paper describes some critical issues arising during the partial discharge (PD) testing of a 500m delivery length of an XLPE-insulated MV cable. At first, conventional PD measurements were performed on the whole length by using a standard acquisition system; PDs activity was detected, but the system allowed the operator to localize the PDs only on a length of 70 m. A visual inspection of this section highlighted the presence of an excoriation in the outer sheet. Aiming at a more accurate pin-pointing of the defect, more measurements were carried out in the proximity of the outer defect using a portable PD detection system. Single crystal-like thin films of blue bronze

Abstract Pulsed laser deposition technique was employed to grow thin films of K 0.3 M o O 3 on A l 2 O 3 (1-102) and S r T i O 3 (510) substrates. Structural and imaging characterization revealed good quality films with well oriented grains of few microns in length. Both non-selective (transport) and order-selective (femtosecond pump-probe spectroscopy) probes revealed charge density wave properties that are very close to those of the single crystals. Enhancement of the Multipactor Threshold Inside Nonrectangular Iris

Multipactor breakdown is studied inside the capacitive iris of a rectangular waveguide with a skewed slot along its longitudinal cross section. Both the iris length and height are assumed to be small compared to the electromagnetic wavelength. Therefore, the quasi-static approximation is applied so as to describe the RF field distribution inside the iris gap, whereas a 2-D model is used to analyze the electron motion. The peculiarities of RF field structure are studied using the conformal mapping approach, which shows that the electric field lines can be approximated by circular arcs when the iris length is much larger than its height. Abstract The ring-opening photoisomerization of benzopyran, which occurs via a photochemical route involving a conical intersection, has been studied with quantum dynamics calculations using the multi-configuration time-dependent Hartree method (MCTDH). We introduce a mechanistic strategy to control the conversion of benzopyran to merocyanine with laser pulses. We use a six-dimensional model developed in a previous work for the potential energy surfaces (PES) based on an extension of the vibronic-coupling Hamiltonian model (diabatization method by ansatz), which depends on the most active degrees of freedom. Montanacin-L and montanacin-K two previously non-described acetogenins from Annona montana twigs and leaves

A phytochemical study on Annona montana twigs and leaves led to the isolation of eleven annonaceous acetogenins, including two previously non-described compounds, montanacin-L and montanacin-K. Their structures were elucidated by extensive analyses of spectroscopic data (IR, UV, HRTOFMS, EI-MS and 1H, 13C and 2D NMR). The ACGs montanacin-L, montanacin-K, montanacin-D and montanacin-E were evaluated for their toxicity against Spodoptera frugiperda Smith (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae).
