AbstractIn this chapter, we analyse the features of textbooks that enable and facilitate their role as material agents in the classroom. Rather than analyse the ways textbooks are used in interaction with humans, we analyse the elements in the textbook itself that facilitate intra-action and the ensuing material agency. Based on a discursive analysis of self-assessment in one textbook and discussing that construct against the Finnish national core curriculum and previous research, we present an ‘ideal imaginary’ of classroom activities as construed in the textbook. AbstractThe accuracy of students’ relative comprehension judgments when reading texts is typically rather low. This has been ascribed to students grounding their comprehension judgments on cues that are not diagnostic of their actual comprehension level. Asking students to complete causal diagrams—a diagramming scaffold—before judging comprehension has proved effective in providing them with more diagnostic cues and thereby fostered metacomprehension accuracy and self-regulated learning. Niniejszy artykuł jest poświęcony problematyce samooceny nierówności poziomu konsumpcji na wsi w Polsce jako podstawowej determinanty poziomu życia. Celem zaprezentowanych w nim badań była próba identyfikacji zróżnicowania subiektywnych ocen poziomu życia gospodarstw domowych na wsi oraz porównania ich z wybranymi obiektywnymi charakterystykami sytuacji materialnej tych podmiotów. Jako najbardziej reprezentatywny wskaźnik sytuacji materialnej gospodarstwa domowego przyjęto poziom wydatków konsumpcyjnych.
