High sensing potentialities of tetra-tert-butyl-metallophthalocyaninesbased acoustic microsensors for xylenes measurement in air at room temperature
2022
International audience; Xylenes, classified as Volatil Organic Compounds, is a very harmful pollutant for human health that can be absorbed into the body via all exposures routes: inhalation, ingestion, or dermal. As defined by the US Environmental Protection Agency, the occupational exposure limi-tes are set to 100 ppm while the guidelines in non-occupational context are fixed to 50 ppm. For the concentration measurements in the at-mosphere, authorities commonly used sampling methods with post-exposure chemical titration or chromatography. A strong interest remains on the development of low cost, low power consumption and easy implemented microsensors able to deliver real-time indicative m…
Remote and proximal sensing for precision agriculture and viticulture". Special issue
2021
International audience; Special Issue InformationDear Colleagues,Remote and proximal sensing are the two most common techniques concerning the acquisition of information about an object or any phenomenon without physical contact with the object. Remote sensing is widely tied to the use of satellite, airborne or UAV platforms using multi- or hyperspectral imagery. In terms of proximal sensing, the sensor is close to the object and is installed on platforms ranging from handheld, fixed installations, or robotics and tractor-embedded sensors. The types of sensors range from simple RGB or grey-level-cameras to multispectral and hyperspectral high resoluted imaging systems or even thermographic …
An intensimetric method to localize secondary sources
2003
Research is presented to find out the amount and direction of the early reflections of a primary sound source in a room. Two rooms, very different in dimensions, were taken into account: the smallest one is about 100 m3 and the largest one 1100 m3. The measurement system consists of a PC equipped with a sound-board connected to the signals coming from the two microphones of an intensity probe at the input and to a loudspeaker at the output. A sweep signal was used for the excitation of the environment. Signal processing software was developed using LabVIEW by National Instruments. The results of the two measurement sessions are presented as amplitude-direction diagrams and amplitude-directi…
Off-line methods for determining air quality in museums
2010
This paper will examine three methodologies deployed in off-line research relating to air quality in museums. These methodologies made use of sensors based on the different chemical-physicalproperties of various materials (corrosiveness, hardness and absorption). Various field applications were applied to case studies, which were performed in two museums in Palermo, Italy: the Regional Gallery of Palazzo Abatellis and the Diocesan Museum. This review of methodologies and sensors examines which protocol should be put into practice in museums in monitoring the air quality of display spaces and the conservation of cultural artefacts.
MEHANOLUMINISCENTO MATERIĀLU PIELIETOJAMĪBA OPTOELEKTRISKO SENSORU IZVEIDEI UN METODES IZSTRĀDE TO ĪPAŠĪBU IZPĒTEI
2021
Mehanoluminiscence (ML) ir spontāna gaismas emisija mehāniskas mijiedarbības rezultātā. Kaut gan efekts tika atklāts simtiem gadu atpakaļ, tas neatrada plašu, praktisku pielietojumu. Tomēr pētījumi norāda uz to, ka ML varētu tikt pielietota mehāniskā sprieguma sensoru izveidei.

Changes in surface stress, morphology and chemical composition of silica and silicon nitride surfaces during the etching by gaseous HF acid
2007
International audience; HF acid attack of SiO2 and Si3N4 substrates is analyzed to improve the sensitivity of a sensor based on inicrocantilever. Ex situ analysis of the etching using XPS, SIMS and AFM show significant changes in the anisotropy and the rate of the etching of the oxides on SiO2 and Si3N4 surface. Those differences influence the kinetic evolution of the plastic bending deflection of the cantilever coated with SiO2 and Si3N4 layer, respectively. The linear dependence between the HF concentration and the Si3N4 cantilever bending corresponds to a deep attack of the layer whereas the nonlinear behavior observed for SiO2 layer can be explained by a combination of deep and lateral …
Quality, Reliability, Security and Robustness in Heterogeneous Systems
2020
This book constitutes the refereed post-conference proceedings of the 15th EAI International Conference on Quality, Reliability, Security and Robustness in Heterogeneous Networks, QShine 2019, held in Shenzhen, China, in November 2019. The 16 revised full papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 55 submissions. The papers are organized thematically in tracks, starting with mobile systems, cloud resource management and scheduling, machine learning, telecommunication systems, and network management.
Less Data Same Information for Event-Based Sensors: A Bioinspired Filtering and Data Reduction Algorithm
2018
Sensors provide data which need to be processed after acquisition to remove noise and extract relevant information. When the sensor is a network node and acquired data are to be transmitted to other nodes (e.g., through Ethernet), the amount of generated data from multiple nodes can overload the communication channel. The reduction of generated data implies the possibility of lower hardware requirements and less power consumption for the hardware devices. This work proposes a filtering algorithm (LDSI&mdash
