Giuseppe Fanciulli maestro di letteratura per l’infanzia (1888-1951)

2022

Giuseppe Fanciulli can be considered a "deuteragonist" of children’s literature, since his literal and theatrical compositions have lost their importance over the years and only rarely were cited by his experts. The following contribution therefore intends to analyze the Fanciulli’s life and literary production, to reconstruct a complex and original literary itinerary, expression of creativity, of ingenuity and of a sincere love for the childhood, as well as manifestation of the desire to combine the literature with the education, accompanying the new generations towards a path of intellectual, ethical and moral growth. The septal complex of the telencephalon of the lizardPodarcis hispanica. I. chemoarchitectonical organization

1995

In this paper we study the septal complex architecture in the lizard Podarcis hispanica (Lacertidae). Histochemical and immunohistochemical techniques were used to define the distribution of zinc (Timm stain), acetyl cholinesterase (AChase), gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), tyrosine hydroxylase (TH), dopamine (DA), serotonin (5-HT), and two neuropeptides: leu-enkephalin (L-ENK) and substance P (SP). These reactions delineate a coherent map of nine septal nuclei that are named with a topographical nomenclature: anterior, lateral, ventromedial, medial, dorsolateral, ventrolateral, and dorsal septal nuclei, nucleus septalis impar, and nucleus of the posterior pallial commissure. The anterior se…

Enhancing Optomechanical Coupling via the Josephson Effect

2013

Cavity optomechanics is showing promise for studying quantum mechanics in large systems. However, smallness of the radiation-pressure coupling is a serious hindrance. Here we show how the charge tuning of the Josephson inductance in a single-Cooper-pair transistor (SCPT) can be exploited to arrange a strong radiation pressure -type coupling $g_0$ between mechanical and microwave resonators. In a certain limit of parameters, such a coupling can also be seen as a qubit-mediated coupling of two resonators. We show that this scheme allows reaching extremely high $g_0$. Contrary to the recent proposals for exploiting the non-linearity of a large radiation pressure coupling, the main non-linearit…

Elintarviketeollisuuden informaatio- ja tietojärjestelmätarpeet alkutuotannosta : mitä sianlihan tuotantoketjussa tulisi tulevaisuudessa kehittää?

2013

Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvittää elintarviketeollisuuden informaatio- ja tietojärjestelmätarpeita sianlihan alkutuotannosta. Tutkimuksen tuloksena luotiin viisi konseptia sianlihantuotannon kehittämiseksi. Konsepteissa kuvataan elintarviketeollisuuden informaatio- ja tietojärjestelmätarpeita alkutuotannosta, tulevaisuuden tavoitteita sianlihatuotannon kehittämiseksi, nykytuotannon haasteita, sekä potentiaalisia lisäarvoa tuottavia palvelutuotteita. Tutkimuksessa otetaan huomioon uusimmat teknologiset mahdollisuudet, joita hyödyntäen ruokaketju voi kehittää toimintansa vastuullisuutta, läpinäkyvyyttä, sekä jäljitettävyyttä. Tutkimus toteutettiin laadullisena tutkimuksena, jossa tutkimu…

Magnetic separation of encapsulated islet cells labeled with superparamagnetic iron oxide nano particles.

2012

Islet cell transplantation is a promising option for the restoration of normal glucose homeostasis in patients with type 1 diabetes. Because graft volume is a crucial issue in islet transplantations for patients with diabetes, we evaluated a new method for increasing functional tissue yield in xenogeneic grafts of encapsulated islets. Islets were labeled with three different superparamagnetic iron oxide nano particles (SPIONs; dextran-coated SPION, siloxane-coated SPION, and heparin-coated SPION). Magnetic separation was performed to separate encapsulated islets from the empty capsules, and cell viability and function were tested. Islets labeled with 1000 μg Fe/ml dextran-coated SPIONs expe…

Transient hypothyroidism associated with prematurity, sepsis, and respiratory distress.

1979

Serial TSH and T4 determinations were performed in sixty neonates admitted to our hospital for neonatal intensive care within a period of three months. Seven patients (12%) showed transient hypothyroidism on the basis of low T4 and high TSH values. Only one of these patients, who had meconium aspiration and pneumonia, did not have the respiratory distress syndrome. In addition, 4 of these patients had sepsis. All of the patients were born before 37 gestational weeks and had birth weights under 2200 g. In addition, two patients of this gestational age and birth weight group had a progressive fall of T4 to extremely hypothyroid values without simultaneous elevation of TSH. Two of the 5 patien…

A new method to value efficiency of enzyme blends for pancreatic tissue digestion.

2010

Islet transplantation, since the 90’s, has been resulting to be one of the best successful example of human cell therapy. Nevertheless, islet isolation procedure is not completely standardized; in fact, more than fifty percent of islets procedures don’t arrive to their transplantation. This is due both to the variability of donor’s pancreas and to an unpredictable enzymatic blend efficiency. Enzymes used in pancreas digestion are extracted from Clostridium histolyticum bacteria and digest several substrates. In particular they have strong collagenolytic activity compared to vertebrate collagenases. However, several impediments persist in human islet isolation success probably due to the var…
