Małżeństwo w Asyryjskim Kościele Wschodu. Studium systematyczne z odniesieniami do innych tradycji chrześcijańskiego Orientu

2020

Noise phenomena and soliton dynamics in long Josephson junctions

2013

In this work we computationally explore the transient dynamics of a noisy Josephson junction (JJ). Principal purpose is to investigate the behavior of the lifetime of the superconductive state as a function of the system and noise source parameters. The relations between the emerging phenomena and the evolution of the JJ order parameter φ, that is the phase difference between the macroscopic wave functions describing the superconducting condensate in the two electrodes, is deeply investigated. We focus our interest on the switching events from the superconducting metastable state, and in particular on the mean escape time (MET). In the used model, a long JJ can be represented by a string co…

Relations Between Suicidal Ideation, Depression, and Emotional Autonomy from Parents in Adolescence

2010

We examined the relations between depression, emotional autonomy quality-related constructs of separation and detachment, and suicidal ideation, focusing on the unique and common contribution that depression, separation and detachment made to suicidal ideation. We also examined gender differences. 403 adolescents, 196 boys and 207 girls, completed self-report measures of depression, separation and detachment, and suicidal ideation. The data showed a significant relation between depression and suicidal ideation both for boys and girls, and between detachment and suicidal ideation only for boys. Results for boys supported an additive model such that depression and detachment each contributed …

Behavioural thresholds of blue tit colour vision and the effect of background chromatic complexity

2020

Vision is a vital attribute to foraging, navigation, mate selection and social signalling in animals, which often have a very different colour perception in comparison to humans. For understanding how animal colour perception works, vision models provide the smallest colour difference that animals of a given species are assumed to detect. To determine the just-noticeable-difference, or JND, vision models use Weber fractions that set discrimination thresholds of a stimulus compared to its background. However, although vision models are widely used, they rely on assumptions of Weber fractions since the exact fractions are unknown for most species. Here, we test; i) which Weber fractions in lo…

Rapporti fra mediazione familiare e CTU

2022

Data from: Food provisioning alters infection dynamics in populations of a wild rodent

2015

While pathogens are often assumed to limit the growth of wildlife populations, experimental evidence for their effects is rare. A lack of food resources has been suggested to enhance the negative effects of pathogen infection on host populations, but this theory has received little investigation. We conducted a replicated two-factor enclosure experiment, with introduction of the bacterium Bordetella bronchiseptica and food supplementation, to evaluate the individual and interactive effects of pathogen infection and food availability on vole populations during a boreal winter. We show that prior to bacteria introduction, vole populations were limited by food availability. Bordetella bronchis…

The Relevance of Flow Cytometry for Biochemical Analysis

2001

Flow cytometry (FCM) allows the simultaneous measurement of multiple fluorescences and light scatter induced by illumination of single cells or microscopic particles in suspension, as they flow rapidly through a sensing area. In some systems, individual cells or particles may be sorted according to the properties exhibited. By using appropriate fluorescent markers, FCM is unique in that multiple structural and functional parameters can be quantified simultaneously on a single-particle basis, whereas up to thousands of biological particles per second may be examined. FCM is increasingly used for basic, clinical, biotechnological, and environmental studies of biochemical relevance. In this cr…

Bioelectric model of atrial fibrillation: Applicability of blind source separation techniques for atrial activity estimation in atrial fibrillation e…

2003

In this contribution, we present the theoretical justification that give support to the suitability of blind signal separation (BSS) techniques for the estimation of the atrial activity (AA) present in ECGs of persistent atrial fibrillation (AF). The application of BSS methods to this problem needs the fulfillment of several conditions regarding AA, ventricular activity (VA) and the fashion in which both activities arise on the body surface, that will be justified along the paper. To empirically validate the model, an ICA method is applied to 10 real 12-lead recordings of AF. The identification of AA is put forward based on kurtosis and spectral analysis. The kurtosis value of the estimated…

Anti-phospholipase A2 and anti-inflammatory activity of Santolina chamaecyparissus

2000

The activity of the Santolina chamaecyparissus methanol extract was tested against the phospholipase A2 (PLA2)-induced mouse paw edema and in vitro inhibition of PLA2 activity. After fractionation, only the dichloromethane extract was active against the PLA2 in vitro test. In addition, it reduced the edema induced by arachidonic acid, and by 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate in a multidose test. After chromatography on silicagel and gel filtration on Sephadex, and using an in vitro anti-PLA2 assay-guided process, we have isolated and identified from the dichloromethane extract the flavone nepetin and four sesquiterpenes.

Validation of ATP bioluminescence as a tool to assess antimicrobial effects of mouthrinses in an in vitro subgingival-biofilm model

2012

Objectives. The aim of this investigation was to evaluate whether the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) bioluminescence method is an appropriate tool to assess the efficacy of antiseptic mouthrinses in terms of quantitative reductions of total viable microbial counts in mixed biofilm populations in vitro. Study Design. Three mouthrinses, containing respectively, chlorhexidine and cetylpyridinium chloride (CHX/CPC), essential oils (EO) and amine fluoride/stannous fluoride (AFSF), as well as Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS) used as control, were tested in an in vitro static biofilm model by ATP bioluminescence and compared to culture method. Biofilms were grown on saliva-coated hydroxyapatite disks…
