Spatial weighted averaging for ERP denoising in EEG data

In the present paper we intend to improve the practical accuracy of ERP denoising methods proposed in earlier research by allowing them to take into account possible violations of the underlying assumptions, which often take place in practice. The reflectance spectra are obtained using artificial neural-netwok reconstruction which generates reflectance cubes from acquired multispectral images. Then, a blind source separation algorithm based on Non-negative Matrix Factorization is used for the decomposition of human skin absorption spectra in its main pigments: melanin and hemoglobin. Sensorless induction machine drive for fly-wheel generation unit based on a TLS-based non-linear observer

This paper proposes a sensorless technique for an induction machine Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS) based on a non-linear observer integrated with a total least-squares speed estimator taking into consideration the IM (Induction Machine) saturation effects. The nonlinear observer is based on an original formulation of the dynamic model of the IM including the magnetic saturation, rearranged in a space-state form, after assuming as state variables the stator current and the rotor magnetizing current space-vectors in the stator reference frame. Unitarity of the SoV Transform for the Toda Chain

The quantum separation of variables method consists in mapping the original Hilbert space where a spectral problem is formulated onto one where the spectral problem takes a simpler "separated" form. In order to realise such a program, one should construct the map explicitly and then show that it is unitary. In the present paper, we develop a technique which allows one to prove the unitarity of this map in the case of the quantum Toda chain. Our proof solely builds on objects and relations naturally arising in the framework of the so-called quantum inverse scattering method. Laser photodetachment mass spectrometry

We demonstrate that the technique of laser photodetachment spectroscopy on atomic negative ions can be used as a sensitivity enhancement tool in mass spectrometry, useful for suppressing both isotopic as well as molecular isobaric interferences. In the experiment a beam of negative ions and a laser beam are merged in a collinear geometry and the wavelength of the laser is tuned across the photodetachment threshold region. Due to the large differential Doppler shifts associated with the fast moving ions of different masses, it is possible to selectively detach ions of certain isotopes while leaving others unaffected. Far-off-resonance averaging of dipolar interactions in solids

Abstract The far-off-resonance performance of several line-narrowing sequences is investigated. Both theoretically and experimentally, it is found that transverse relaxation times, dominated by dipole–dipole interactions, are most effectively prolonged not only on-resonance but also for certain, generally large, resonance offsets. These correspond to a situation when, during the basic pulse separation, the frequency offset rotates the toggling-frame Hamiltonian by multiples of 180°. The implications of these results for the study of macroscopic translational diffusion using static-field-gradient NMR are discussed.

Status report of the Jyvaskyla ion guide isotope separator on-line facility

The ion guide isotope separator facility IGISOL of the University of Jyvaskyla has been moved to the new K-130 heavy ion cyclotron laboratory. The totally reconstructed facility is described in detail. The primary beams and targets, helium pumping, separator beam line construction and separator beam diagnostics are discussed. The spectroscopy stations are introduced with illustrative examples from the research program, including beta-delayed proton and neutron spectroscopy, gamma-ray spectroscopy with and without arrays, conversion electron spectroscopy, collinear laser spectroscopy and nuclear level lifetime spectroscopy.
