Gli autori dei contributi hanno messo in evidenza come la famiglia, lungi dall'essere una entità ovvia e data per scontata, sia invece il prodotto di aspettative, comportamenti socialmente strutturati, oltre che di negoziazioni e di rapporti di potere e dinamiche, talvolta profondamente conflittuali. The volume collects contributions that intend to reveal the social and cultural nature of the family.

The article presents the preliminary results of the author’s study of the unedited homily De transfiguratione et eleemosyna (CPG 5009; BHGn 1996t), ascribed to John Chrysostom. The question of the manuscript tradition is first discussed. The article shows that Maurice Sachot is right when he indicates only the manuscript Romanus Angelicus gr. 125 (T.1.7) as a manuscript witness of this homily and that the other two witnesses indicated by Pinakes are erroneous. Then, the descriptions of the folios that preserve the homily are analysed in the light of a new examination of them. Mobilisation of plasmid-mediated blaVEB-1 gene cassette into distinct genomic islands of Proteus mirabilis after ceftazidime exposure

ABSTRACT Objectives We sought to integrate a VEB-1-encoding gene cassette into the integron of the MDR region of genomic islands (GIs) harboured by Proteus mirabilis strains after antibiotic exposure. Methods An IncP1 plasmid from Achromobacter xylosoxidans carrying the cassette array dfrA14–blaVEB-1–aadB was introduced by conjugation into five strains of P. mirabilis: PmBRI, PmABB, PmSCO and Pm2CHAMA harbouring Salmonella GI 1 and PmESC harbouring Proteus GI 1. Circular intermediates of the cassettes were amplified by PCR. blaVEB-harbouring P. mirabilis were exposed to increasing concentrations of ceftazidime each day. Polynomial mapped bases: theory and applications

Abstract In this paper, we collect the basic theory and the most important applications of a novel technique that has shown to be suitable for scattered data interpolation, quadrature, bio-imaging reconstruction. The method relies on polynomial mapped bases allowing, for instance, to incorporate data or function discontinuities in a suitable mapping function. The new technique substantially mitigates the Runge’s and Gibbs effects.

Scopo di questo lavoro è un’analisi dell’uso non canonico della congiunzione piuttosto che: si tenterà di tracciare il percorso responsabile del mutamento sintattico e semantico che conduce dall’uso subordinativo a quello coordinativo. Nel suo uso canonico l’avverbio piuttosto, seguito da che, funge da congiunzione utilizzata per introdurre una comparazione tra due entità definite o tra due frasi, instaurando, dunque, in entrambi i casi, un rapporto di subordinazione. The paper aims to offer an account of some representative opinions of ancient Greeks about the role of the space, conceived in its geographical/environmental value, in which a certain population lives, as well as of the language spoken by a population, in order to build historically the concept of Greek nation (to Hellenikón). The different positions expressed on these matters by Herodotus, Thucydides, Strabon and Pausanias are discussed, and the examination mostly concernes the ethnic and historical-linguistic aspects of the representation of the Dorians and Ionians.
