Cardio- Renal Outcomes With Long- Term Agalsidase Alfa Enzyme Replacement Therapy: A 10- Year Fabry Outcome Survey (FOS) Analysis

2019

Purpose Following the publication of 5-year agalsidase alfa enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) outcomes data from the Fabry Outcome Survey (FOS), 10-year data were analyzed. Patients and methods FOS (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT03289065) data (April 2001 to August 2018) were retrospectively analyzed. Estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and left ventricular mass indexed to height (LVMI) were analyzed after treatment start (baseline) for patients with ≥3 measurements, including baseline and year 10. Results Median (range) age (years) of the evaluable treated renal cohort at treatment start was 48.8 (17.9-67.3) for females (n=62), 34.4 (18.0-66.8) for males (n=90). With eGFR ≥60 mL…

Soil enzyme assays using p-nitrophenyl derivatives: an inter-laboratory comparison

2011

Reproducibility and reliability of soil enzyme assays need to be validated by comparing results among different labs. The Italian Group of Enzymology organized a ring test among five labs. Beta-glucosidase, acid- and alkaline phosphatase activities were chosen as they are all measurable by using substrates with wide applicability, i.e. p-nitrophenyl derivatives. The five labs preliminarily agreed and standardised the specific methodological procedure for each enzymatic activity, also taking into account factors such as practicability and equipment availability. Nine soils with contrasting physico- chemical and biological properties were adequately sampled, pre-treated and sieved, in order t…

Regulation of aerobic and anaerobic D-malate metabolism of Escherichia coli by the LysR-type regulator DmlR (YeaT).

2010

ABSTRACT Escherichia coli K-12 is able to grow under aerobic conditions on d -malate using DctA for d -malate uptake and the d -malate dehydrogenase DmlA (formerly YeaU) for converting d -malate to pyruvate. Induction of dmlA encoding DmlA required an intact dmlR (formerly yeaT ) gene, which encodes DmlR, a LysR-type transcriptional regulator. Induction of dmlA by DmlR required the presence of d -malate or l - or meso -tartrate, but only d -malate supported aerobic growth. The regulator of general C 4 -dicarboxylate metabolism (DcuS-DcuR two-component system) had some effect on dmlA expression. The anaerobic l -tartrate regulator TtdR or the oxygen sensors ArcB-ArcA and FNR did not have a m…

Moderate-Vigorous Physical Activity across Body Mass Index in Females : Moderating Effect of Endocannabinoids and Temperament

2014

Altres ajuts: This manuscript was supported by grants from Instituto Salud Carlos III (FIS PI11/210 and CIBERobn). Sarah Sauchelli is recipient of a pre-doctoral Grant (2013-17) by IDIBELL. Jose C. Fernández-García is recipient of a 'Rio Hortega' contract from 'Instituto de Salud Carlos III', Madrid, Spain (CM12/00059). The funders had no role in the study design, data collection and analysis, decision to publish, or preparation of the manuscript. Endocannabinoids and temperament traits have been linked to both physical activity and body mass index (BMI) however no study has explored how these factors interact in females. The aims of this cross-sectional study were to 1) examine differences…

Localized versus systemic effect of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi on defence responses to Phytophthora infection in tomato plants

2002

Development of biological control for plant diseases is accepted as a durable and environmentally friendly alternative for agrochemicals. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), which form symbiotic associations with root systems of most agricultural, horticultural and hardwood crop species, have been suggested as widespread potential bioprotective agents. In the present study the ability of two AMF (Glomus mosseae and Glomus intraradices) to induce local or systemic resistance to Phytophthora parasitica in tomato roots have been compared using a split root experimental system. Glomus mosseae was effective in reducing disease symptoms produced by P. parasitica infection, and evidence points to …

La Facultat de Filosofia i Lletres de València, 1857-1977 : Esbós històric

1997

2001

Testing the ontogenetic base for the transient model of inflorescence development

2013

† Backgrounds and Aims: Current research in plant science has concentrated on revealing ontogenetic processes of key attributes in plant evolution. One recently discussed model is the ‘transient model’ successful in explaining some types of inflorescence architectures based on two main principles: the decline of the so called ‘vegetativeness’ (veg) factor and the transient nature of apical meristems in developing inflorescences. This study examines whether both principles find a concrete ontogenetic correlate in inflorescence development. † Methods: To test the ontogenetic base of veg decline and the transient character of apical meristems the ontogeny of meristematic size in developing inf…
