Experimental evidence for transverse wobbling bands in 136Nd

The nature of two high-spin bands in 136Nd built on the two-quasiparticle configuration πh211/2, predicted by the triaxial projected shell model as good candidates of transverse wobbling bands, are investigated experimentally. The mixing ratio of one ΔI=1 transition connecting the one-phonon and the zero-phonon wobbling bands is established from a high-statistics JuroGam II γ-ray spectroscopy experiment by using the combined angular correlation and linear polarization method. The resulting wobbling excitation energy and ratios of reduced electromagnetic transition probabilities are in good agreement with results of a new particle-rotor model which rigidly couples the total angular momentum …

The science case of the FRS Ion Catcher for FAIR Phase-0

The FRS Ion Catcher at GSI enables precision experiments with thermalized projectile and fission fragments. At the same time it serves as a test facility for the Low-Energy Branch of the Super-FRS at FAIR. The FRS Ion Catcher has been commissioned and its performance has been characterized in five experiments with 238U and 124Xe projectile and fission fragments produced at energies in the range from 300 to 1000 MeV/u. High and almost element-independent efficiencies for the thermalization of short-lived nuclides produced at relativistic energies have been obtained. Transfer reactions in 206Pb+118Sn: From quasielastic to deep-inelastic processes

We measured multinucleon transfer reactions for the 206Pb+118Sn system at Elab=1200 MeV by employing the large solid angle magnetic spectrometer PRISMA. Differential and total cross sections and Q-value distributions have been obtained for a variety of neutron and proton pick-up and stripping channels. The Q-value distributions show how the quasielastic and deep inelastic processes depend on the mass and charge of the transfer products. The corresponding cross sections have been compared with calculations performed with the grazing code. An overall good agreement is found for most of the few nucleon transfer channels. Tuloerojen ja talouskasvun välinen relaatio kymmenessä kehittyneessä taloudessa vuosina 1950 - 2010

Tässä pro gradu -työssä tarkastellaan tuloerojen ja talouskasvun välistä yhteyttä kymmenen kehittyneen talouden muodostamalla maapaneelilla, jonka havainnot ulottuvat viime vuosisadan puolivälistä vuoteen 2010. Talouskasvua mitataan reaalisen BKT/capitan vuosittaisella muutoksella, tuloeroja puolestaan ylimmän persentiilin osuudella talouden tuloista. Työssä sovelletaan vektoriautoregressiivistä lähestymistapaa lyhyen aikavälin relaation estimoimiseksi. Pitkän aikavälin yhteyttä tarkastellaan tutkimalla muuttujien välistä yhteisintegraatiorelaatiota, ja hyödyntämällä dynaamista pienimmän neliösumman menetelmää varsinaisten pitkän aikavälin riippuvuussuhteiden estimoimiseksi.
