Automatic construction of test sets: Theoretical approach

We consider the problem of automatic construction of complete test set (CTS) from program text. The completeness criterion adopted is C1, i.e., it is necessary to execute all feasible branches of program at least once on the tests of CTS. A simple programming language is introduced with the property that the values used in conditional statements are not arithmetically deformed. For this language the CTS problem is proved to be algorithmically solvable and CTS construction algorithm is obtained. Integrated dimensional and drive-train design optimization of a light-weight anthropomorphic arm

An approach to minimize the mass of robotic manipulators is developed by integrated dimensional and drive-train optimization. The method addresses the influences of dimensions and characteristics of drive-trains in the design optimization. Constraints are formulated on the basis of kinematic performance and dynamic requirements, whereas the main objective is to minimize the total mass. Case studies are included to demonstrate the application of the optimization method in the design of assistive robots.

Quantitative Analysis of Dynamic Association in Live Biological Fluorescent Samples

Determining vesicle localization and association in live microscopy may be challenging due to non-simultaneous imaging of rapidly moving objects with two excitation channels. Besides errors due to movement of objects, imaging may also introduce shifting between the image channels, and traditional colocalization methods cannot handle such situations. Our approach to quantifying the association between tagged proteins is to use an object-based method where the exact match of object locations is not assumed. The growing interest in personalized medicine requires making inferences from descriptive indexes estimated from individual recordings of physiological signals, with statistical analyses focused on individual differences between/within subjects, rather than comparing supposedly homogeneous cohorts. Analysis of the applicability of a learning technology requires an evaluation of how the affordances of the learning environment respond to users’ needs. We examine affordances in a simulation-based collaborative learning environment from the learners’ viewpoint. Our analysis focuses on three types of affordances: technological, organisational and socio-interactional. The findings show how teams of learners employ the different types of affordances in their collaborative tasks.
