A note on the rational canonical form of an endomorphism of a vector space of finite dimension

[EN] In this note, we give an easy algorithm to construct the rational canonical form of a square matrix or an endomorphism h of a finite dimensional vector space which does not depend on either the structure theorem for finitely generated modules over principal ideal domains or matrices over the polynomial ring. The algorithm is based on the construction of an element whose minimum polynomial coincides with the minimum polynomial of the endomorphism and on the fact that the h-invariant subspace generated by such an element admits an h-invariant complement. A rigidity theorem for Lagrangian deformations

We consider deformations of singular Lagrangian varieties in symplectic manifolds. We prove that a Lagrangian deformation of a Lagrangian complete intersection is analytically rigid provided that this is the case infinitesimally. This result is given as a consequence of the coherence of the direct image sheaves of relative infinitesimal Lagrangian deformations.
Complex powers of elliptic pseudodifferential operators

The aim of this paper is the construction of complex powers of elliptic pseudodifferential operators and the study of the analytic properties of the corresponding kernels kS (x,y). For x=y, the case of principal interest, the domain of holomorphy and the singularities of kS (x,x) are shown to depend on the asymptotic expansion of the symbol. For classical symbols, kS (x,x) is known to be meromorphic on ℂ with simple poles in a set of equidistant points on the real axis. In the more general cases considered here, the singularities may be distributed over a half plane and kS (x,x) can not always be extended to337-2. An example is given where kS (x,x) has a vertical line as natural boundary.

The Classical Theory of Real Functions

The first class of real functions we deal with in this chapter is the class of functions of locally finite variation. These functions are closely related to the real measures on B. Exploiting this connection would allow us to obtain the properties of these functions from the general results in Chapter 4. But the path we follow here is a more direct one which applies the theory of vector lattices. The link with the measures on B will be established in the next section.
