A new approach based on NμSMV Model to query semantic graph
2011
International audience; The language most frequently used to represent the semantic graphs is the RDF (W3C standard for meta-modeling). The construction of semantic graphs is a source of numerous errors of interpretation. Processing of large semantic graphs can be a limit to use semantics in modern information systems. The work presented in this paper is part of a new research at the border between two areas: the semantic web and the model checking. For this, we developed a tool, RDF2NμSMV, which converts RDF graphs into NμSMV language. This conversion aims checking the semantic graphs with the model checker NμSMV in order to verify the consistency of the data. The data integration and shar…
Fractional half-tangent of a curve described by Iterated Function Systems.
2009
International audience; The deterministic fractal curves and surfaces find many applications in modeling of rough objects. However, these curves and surfaces are nowhere differentiable. Without notion of tangent, we can not determine the relative orientation of two fractal shapes, to join them with a "natural" aspect. Various works proposed a generalization of the concept of derivative by introducing the fractional derivative. In this paper we apply this concept of fractional derivative to the curves described by Iterated Function Systems. We show that if the fractional derivative exists at boundary points of the curve, the direction of the fractional half-tangent is necessarily the eigenve…
On listening to atonal variants of two Piano Sonatas by Beethoven
2009
International audience; We investigated the contribution of tonal relationships to the perception of musical ideas and to the feelings of "arousal." Two excerpts of piano sonatas by Beethoven and two atonal variants were used as experimental stimuli. This manipulation destroyed the tonal relationships but preserved both the local and global temporal organization (rhythm and formal). Listeners were asked to indicate the onset of musical ideas, to estimate the arousing properties of the music in a continuous response task, and to rate the similarity of the pieces. A drastic change in the pitch structure strongly affected judgments of similarity. However, it had no effect on the segmentation o…
Multi-Domain Retrieval of Geospatial Data Sources Implementing a Semantic Catalogue
2015
International audience; Nowadays, the expertise of a user plays an important role in the search and retrieval in the information systems that usually combines general and specialized knowledge in the construction of queries. In addition, most of the queries systems are currently restricted on specific domains. Tackling these issues, we propose a methodology that implements a semantic catalogue in order to provide a smart queries system for retrieving data sources on the web by means of the extension of the user expertise. We propose the combination of a query expansion method, and the use of similarity measures and controlled vocabularies. Thus, it allows the system to recommend data source…
Architectural Reconstruction of 3D Building Objects through Semantic Knowledge Management
2010
International audience; This paper presents an ongoing research which aims at combining geometrical analysis of point clouds and semantic rules to detect 3D building objects. Firstly by applying a previous semantic formalization investigation, we propose a classification of related knowledge as definition, partial knowledge and ambiguous knowledge to facilitate the understanding and design. Secondly an empirical implementation is conducted on a simplified building prototype complying with the IFC standard. The generation of empirical knowledge rules is revealed and semantic scopes are addressed both in the bottom up manner along the line of geometry --> topology --> semantic, and a vice ver…
Adding Knowledge Extracted by Association Rules into Similarity Queries
2010
International audience; In this paper, we propose new techniques to improve the quality of similarity queries over image databases performing association rule mining over textual descriptions and automatically extracted features of the image content. Based on the knowledge mined, each query posed is rewritten in order to better meet the user expectations. We propose an extension of SQL aimed at exploring mining processes over complex data, generating association rules that extract semantic information from the textual description superimposed to the extracted features, thereafter using them to rewrite the queries. As a result, the system obtains results closer to the user expectation than i…
Identifying Algebraic Properties to Support Optimization of Unary Similarity Queries
2009
International audience; Abstract. Conventional operators for data retrieval are either based on exact matching or on total order relationship among elements. Neither ofthem is appropriate to manage complex data, such as multimedia data, time series and genetic sequences. In fact, the most meaningful way tocompare complex data is by similarity. However, the Relational Algebra, employed in the Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS),cannot express similarity criteria. In order to address this issue, we provide here an extension of the Relational Algebra, aimed at representingsimilarity queries in algebraic expressions. This paper identies fundamental properties to allow the integration…
Temporal Semantic Centrality for the Analysis of Communication Networks
2012
Temporal Logic To Query Semantic Graphs Using The Model Checking Method
2012
International audience; Semantic interoperability problems have found their solutions due to the use of languages and techniques from the Semantic Web. The proliferations of ontologies and meta-information have improved the understanding of information and the relevance of search engine responses. However, the construction of semantic graphs is a source of numerous errors of interpretation or modeling, and scalability remains a major problem. The processing of large semantic graphs is a limit to the use of semantics in current information systems. The work presented in this paper is part of a new research at the border of two areas: the semantic web and the model checking. This line of rese…
SIMILARITY NETWORK FOR SEMANTIC WEB SERVICES SUBSTITUTION
2013
Web services substitution is one of the most challenging tasks for automating the composition process of multiple Web services. It aims to improve performances and to deal efficiently with Web services failures. Many existing solutions have approached the problem through classification of substitutable Web services. To go a step further, we propose in this paper a network based approach where nodes are Web services operations and links join similar operations. Four similarity measures based on the comparison of input and output parameters values of Web services operations are presented. A comparative evaluation of the topological structure of the corresponding networks is performed on a ben…
