2021

Sorterius - An augmented reality app for encouraging outdoor physical activity for people with intellectual disabilities
2022
Many with intellectual disabilities (ID) have difficulties adhering to current physical activity guidelines. The goal of this study was to develop a mobile app for assisting people with ID to be more physically active. We implemented a solution that combines the digital and real world using augmented reality (AR). Eight people working with people with ID (special education teachers, social workers, psychologists, and researchers) tested the app and completed a usability test. Results indicate that a mobile app focusing on everyday life scenarios can have a potential value for the targeted user group, but AR solutions can be challenging. publishedVersion

Hentet fra: https://vkm.no/risikovurderinger/allevurderinger/dioksinerimatentildennorskebefolkningen.4.413ea92416707dc4375a0a18.html Dioxins and dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (dl-PCBs) are lipophilic chemicals with long half-lives in the environment. Dioxins include both polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDD) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDF). Several congeners of PCDDs and PCDFs may occur, with varying number and positions of chlorine atoms in the molecules. Seventeen of these congeners are relatively persistent in animals and humans and exert similar toxicity. A subgroup of 12 out of 209 possible polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) congeners show toxicological properties simil…

Adhering to a healthy diet is key to a healthy life. Furthermore, investing in child and adolescent health has been highlighted as particularly important since it benefits the individual both now and long-term, as well as future generations. Based on this, schools have been identified as a crucial arena to reach this age group. In Norway, the school subject termed Food and Health (FH) educates students in food and nutrition and how this is related to health. Still, there is concern students are not acquiring the competencies highlighted in the curriculum since the number of formally qualified in FH is the lowest among all school subjects. Also, FH classes today primarily focus on cooking an…

Hiking, indoor biking, and body liking: a cross-sectional study examining the link between physical activity arenas and adults’ body appreciation
2022
Body appreciation might serve as a protective factor for developing eating disorders and is associated with participation in physical activity. Less is known about whether various arenas for physical activity may be linked to body appreciation. Therefore, the current study sought to (1) identify potential associations between physical activity level and arenas for physical activity, connectedness with nature, self-compassion, and body appreciation in adults, and (2) explore physical activity level and arenas, connectedness with nature, and self-compassion as explanatory factors for body appreciation.A total of 360 adult Norwegian inhabitants (75% women, mean (SD) age 42.58 (12.30) yrs) resp…
