Development and characterisation of polymer composite materials with bio-inspired functions

Promocijas darbs ir izstrādāts disertācijas veidā fizikas nozarē materiālu fizikas apakšnozarē. Pētījums tika veikts LU Materiālu mehānikas institūtā. Darbs saistīts ar aktuālu un jaunu pētījumu virzienu: bioinspirēto funkciju tālāku attīstīšanu slodzi nesošos kompozītos. Tās ir mehānisku triecienu vizuālās indikācijas un polimēru matricas vaskulārās pašdziedināšanas funkcijas. Šīs funkcijas tika nodrošinātas, izveidojot viedus slāņus un iebūvējot tos kompozītā. Previous physics education research has raised the question of “hidden variables” behind students’ success in learning certain concepts. In the context of the force concept, it has been suggested that students’ reasoning ability is one such variable. Strong positive correlations between students’ preinstruction scores for reasoning ability (measured by Lawson’s Classroom Test of Scientific Reasoning) and their learning of forces [measured by the Force Concept Inventory (FCI)] have been reported in high school and university introductory courses. Earlier research has shown that after physics instruction, many students have difficulties with the force concept, and with constructing free-body diagrams (FBDs). It has been suggested that treating forces as interactions could help students to identify forces as well as to construct the correct FBDs. Electrical conductivity of glass fiber-reinforced plastic with nanomodified matrix for damage diagnostic

The electrical conductivity of glass fiber-reinforced plastic (GFRP) with epoxy matrix modified by multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) was studied. The electrical conductivity of nanomodified lamina and multi-layered GFRP was investigated on several levels using a structural approach. Components of the electrical conductivity tensor for unidirectional-reinforced monolayer were calculated similarly as in micromechanics using the conductivity of the nanomodified matrix. Keskitymme artikkelissamme kolmeen Suomessakin hyvin tunnettuun luovaan terapiaan: musiikki-, kuvataide- ja tanssi-liiketerapiaan. Tarkastelunäkökulmana on ilmaisu, toisin sanoen se, miten näissä terapioissa perustellaan musiikillisen, kuvallisen ja liikkeellisen ilmaisun käyttöä terapeuttisessa vuorovaikutuksessa. Luovilla terapioilla on paljon yhteistä, ja ne kaikki suhtautuvat lähestymistavan taustalla olevaan taiteeseen samantyyppisesti. Taiteelliset ilmaisukielet nähdään ennen sanoja olevana, kokonaisvaltaisena kehon ja mielen aktivoijana. Ne stimuloivat, rikastavat ja monin tavoin hyödyttävät terapeuttista työskentelyä. Väestöjen moninaistumista kuvaava käsite “superdiversiteetti” on viime vuosikymmenen ajan lisääntyvästi toiminut lähestymistapana muuttoliikkeiden tutkimuksessa. Superdiversiteetti on tarkoitettu viittaamaan eri tekijöiden vuorovaikutukseen, jolla on merkitystä niin yksilökuin yhteiskuntatasollakin. Käsite kyseenalaistaa perinteiset käsitykset niin “valtaväestöstä” kuin “maahanmuuttajaryhmistä”, ja johtaa uusiin tulkintoihin muun muassa maahanmuuton ja integroitumisen havainnollistamisessa. X-ray tomographic method for measuring three-dimensional deformation and water content distribution in swelling clays

A non-invasive method for simultaneous measurement of the 3D displacement field and the water content distribution of a wetted solid material is developed. The method is based on comparison of X-ray tomographic images of a material sample in the reference state and in the wetted and deformed state. The deformation and water content analyses were successfully compared with numerical results for a cylindrical rubber test sample under axial compression, and with gravimetric results from axially wetted and sliced cylindrical bentonite samples, respectively. The Effect of Electrolytic Solution Composition on the Structure, Corrosion, and Wear Resistance of PEO Coatings on AZ31 Magnesium Alloy

Plasma electrolytic oxidation coatings were prepared in aluminate, phosphate, and silicate-based electrolytic solutions using a soft-sparking regime in a multi-frequency stepped process to compare the structure, corrosion, and wear characteristics of the obtained coatings on AZ31 magnesium alloy. The XRD results indicated that all coatings consist of MgO and MgF2, while specific products such as Mg2SiO4, MgSiO3, Mg2P2O7, and MgAl2O4 were also present in specimens based on the selected solution. Surface morphology of the obtained coatings was strongly affected by the electrolyte composition. Matkailua edistävissä esitteissä, oppaissa ja WWW-sivuilla korostetaan tiettyjä asioita kun taas toiset asiat jätetään mainitsematta.
