The service oriented computing paradigm plays an increasingly important role in structuring complex systems. Application design and development approaches are witnessing a shift from traditional models towards a more dynamic service oriented model promoting reuse and adaptability. In this thesis, we study an approach for application design and development based on services’ composition. We propose DyCoSe, an environment for sharing services. In the last years many species of birds have exploited urban and suburban habitats, taking opportunistically advantage of human presence for their niche parameters. The Wren is one of them and shows a high variability in the choice of nesting sites in the gardens of the outskirts of Palermo (Sicily). For many years the authors studied the breeding habits of this small bird, and thanks to the video-tape recordings on the nests, they were able to gather new information on its feeding habits and parental care. The beneficial properties of mushrooms bioactive compounds indicate their potential use as performance enhancing natural additive for livestock animals. This paper reports the preliminary results of a research on the effects of diets supplemented with fungus myceliated grains (FMG) to lactating ewes in terms of intestinal parasites control, milk production and cheese oxidative stability. During 8 weeks, 21 ewes were divided into 3 groups fed with hay ad libitum and 1.3 kg/day per head of one of 3 concentrates with 0, 10 or 20% of FMG. Experimental results are reported showing that the photocatalytic oxidation of aromatic compounds containing an electron-donor group (EDG) gives rise mainly to ortho- and para-monohydroxy derivatives while in the presence of an electron-withdrawing group (EWG) all the monohydroxy derivatives are obtained.

We propose for the first time an one-pot synthesis of carbon nanodots-poly(D,L-lactide) (CDs-PLA) nanocomposites, obtained by a simple reactive melt-extrusion process involving polar surface groups of multicolor CDs and ester bonds of PLA chains. Apart from providing an excellent method to produce polyester-coated CDs, our protocol allows obtaining perfect PLA@CDs blends giving rise to homogeneous extruded PLA@CDs filaments (ePLA@CDs) suitable for 3D printing applications (e.g., additive manufacturing for biomaterials and biodegradable encoded polymer ink technology).
