Yliopistojen brändit ja identiteettiväitteet : case High Point University
2017
Akateeminen maailma on käynyt läpi eräänlaista murrosaikaa.
Temporal speciation pattern in the western Mediterranean genus Tudorella P. Fischer, 1885 (Gastropoda, Pomatiidae) supports the Tyrrhenian vicariance…
2009
The land snail genus Tudorella shows a peculiar disjunct distribution around the western Mediterranean coasts. Despite high phenotypic plasticity, only two species with a disputed number of subspecific taxa are currently recognised. We delimited the species with mitochondrial (COI & 16S) and nuclear (ITS-1) markers based on the unified species concept and suggested that there are eight species in the genus, two of them currently undescribed. Applying Bayesian phylogenetic model selection, we tested four different biogeographic hypotheses that could be causal for the current distribution pattern of extant Tudorella species. A scenario involving vicariance events resulting from the repeated s…
A glial amino-acid transporter controls synapse strength and courtship in Drosophila
2008
1097-6256 (Print) Journal Article Research Support, N.I.H., Extramural Research Support, Non-U.S. Gov't; Mate choice is an evolutionarily critical decision that requires the detection of multiple sex-specific signals followed by central integration of these signals to direct appropriate behavior. The mechanisms controlling mate choice remain poorly understood. Here, we show that the glial amino-acid transporter genderblind controls whether Drosophila melanogaster males will attempt to mate with other males. Genderblind (gb) mutant males showed no alteration in heterosexual courtship or copulation, but were attracted to normally unappealing male species-specific chemosensory cues. As a resul…
The origin of postembryonic neuroblasts in the ventral nerve cord of Drosophila melanogaster.
1991
ABSTRACT Embryonic and postembryonic neuroblasts in the thoracic ventral nerve cord of Drosophila melanogaster have the same origin. We have traced the development of threefold-labelled single precursor cells from the early gastrula stage to late larval stages. The technique allows in the same individual monitoring of progeny cells at embryonic stages (in vivo) and differentially staining embryonic and postembryonic progeny within the resulting neural clone at late postembryonic stages. The analysis reveals that postembryonic cells always appear together with embryonic cells in one clone. Further-more, BrdU labelling suggests that the embryonic neuroblast itself rather than one of its proge…

Masteroppgave i helse- og sosialinformatikk HSI500 - Universitetet i Agder 2018 Background: If an organisation is to reap the potential benefits of new technology, it must modify its work processes. However, the specialist health service appears to be experiencing significant challenges because it is constantly under pressure to change and improve its efficiency. This can weaken its capacity for change and, at worst, lead to long-term reductions in productivity and efficiency. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine how middle managers in the specialist health service feel they can influence developments in change capacity. The aim is to contribute to an awareness of the importance…

The indoor space is equipped with a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication system. The person is modelled by a cluster of …
PUBLIC TRUST IN CHARITIES : EVIDENCES FROM FINLAND AND SWEDEN
2019
Master's thesis Innovative governance and public management ME523 - University of Agder 2019 Public sector across the globe is currently experiencing a decline in public trustand this issue has been widelydiscussed across the globe. While working as a fundraiser in summer 2018, the author discovered that charities are struggling to recruit and keep their regular donors. Donations from general people areone of the mainsources of charity funding. Individuals who donate to charities do not receive a direct benefit in exchange for their support to charities. Moreover, they don’t have all the necessary information, on which they can decide to donate. Trust is what facilitates the transactions be…
A Comprehensive Survey on Signcryption Security Mechanisms in Wireless Body Area Networks
2022
WBANs (Wireless Body Area Networks) are frequently depicted as a paradigm shift in healthcare from traditional to modern E-Healthcare. The vitals of the patient signs by the sensors are highly sensitive, secret, and vulnerable to numerous adversarial attacks. Since WBANs is a real-world application of the healthcare system, it’s vital to ensure that the data acquired by the WBANs sensors is secure and not accessible to unauthorized parties or security hazards. As a result, effective signcryption security solutions are required for the WBANs’ success and widespread use. Over the last two decades, researchers have proposed a slew of signcryption security solutions to achieve this goal. The la…
CoIILnIII dinuclear complexes (LnIII = Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho and Er) as platforms for 1,5-dicyanamide-bridged tetranuclear CoII2LnIII2 complexes: A magneto-…
2012
Five acetate-diphenoxo triply-bridged Co-II-Ln(III) complexes (Ln(I) = Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er) of formula [Co(mu-L)(mu-Ac)Ln(NO3)(2)] and two diphenoxo doubly-bridged Co-II-Ln(III) complexes (Ln(III) = Gd, Tb) of formula [Co(H2O)(mu-L)Ln(NO3)(3)]center dot S (S = H2O or MeOH), were prepared in one pot reaction from the compartmental ligand N,N',N ''-trimethyl-N,N ''-bis(2-hydroxy3-methoxy-5-methylbenzyl)diethylene triamine (H2L). The diphenoxo doubly-bridged Co-II-Ln(III) complexes were used as platforms to obtain 1,5-dicyanamide-bridged tetranuclear Co-II-Ln(III) complexes (Ln(III) = Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er). All exhibit ferromagnetic interactions between the Co-II and Ln(III) ions and in the case …
Insights on the origin of catalysis on glycine N-methyltransferase from computational modeling.
2018
The origin of enzyme catalysis remains a question of debate despite much intense study. We report a QM/MM theoretical study of the SN2 methyl transfer reaction catalyzed by a glycine N-methyltransferase (GNMT) and three mutants to test whether recent experimental observations of rate-constant reductions and variations in inverse secondary α-3H kinetic isotope effects (KIEs) should be attributed to changes in the methyl donor−acceptor distance (DAD): is catalysis due to a compression effect? Semiempirical (AM1) and DFT (M06-2X) methods were used to describe the QM subset of atoms, while OPLS-AA and TIP3P classical force fields were used for the protein and water molecules, respectively. The …
