BACKGROUND: Case management by health care assistants in small primary care practices provides unclear benefit for improving depression symptoms. OBJECTIVE: To determine whether case management provided by health care assistants in small primary care practices is more effective than usual care in improving depression symptoms and process of care for patients with major depression. La satisfacció sexual s?ha convertit en una qüestió important dintre dels estudis sobre sexualitats, dels que sistemàticament les persones grans queden excloses al reduir la seua sexualitat a aspectes relacionats amb la mala salut. En aquest estudi s?analitza la satisfacció sexual amb la parella d?aquest grup de població a través de la Encuesta Nacional de Salud Sexual, prenent com a base el model biopsicosocial de la sexualitat (DeLamater, 2002) i considerant el gènere i diferents grups d?edat. Els resultats indiquen el caràcter multifactorial de la satisfacció sexual, prioritzant elements de natura relacional, social i cultural per sobre de l?estat de salut.
Snowpack concentrations and estimated fluxes of volatile organic compounds in a boreal forest

Abstract. Soil provides an important source of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to atmosphere, but in boreal forests these fluxes and their seasonal variations have not been characterized in detail. Especially wintertime fluxes are almost completely unstudied. In this study, we measured the VOC concentrations inside the snowpack in a boreal Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) forest in southern Finland, using adsorbent tubes and air samplers installed permanently in the snow profile. Based on the VOC concentrations at three heights inside the snowpack, we estimated the fluxes of these gases. Mucin induces CRISPR-Cas defense in an opportunistic pathogen

It is unknown what circumstances promote particular bacterial defenses against bacterial viruses (phages). Almeida & Hoikkala et al. show that mucin, derived from mucus, greatly accelerates CRISPR-Cas defenses against phage in an opportunistic pathogen. Parasitism by bacteriophages has led to the evolution of a variety of defense mechanisms in their host bacteria. However, it is unclear what factors lead to specific defenses being deployed upon phage infection. To explore this question, we co-evolved the bacterial fish pathogen Flavobacterium columnare and its virulent phage V156 in presence and absence of a eukaryotic host signal (mucin) for sixteen weeks. Bakalaura darbs "Brīvmūrniecības izpausmes Krievijas impērijā no 1730.gadiem līdz 1825.gadam" sniedz ieskatu Krievijas brīvmūrniecības vēsturē sākot ar tās izcelšanos 18.gadsimta pirmajā pusē un beidzot ar imperatora Nikolaja I aizliegumu. Šī darba mērķis ir analizēt brīvmūrniecības attīstības gaitu un izpausmes Krievijas impērijā no 1730.gadiem līdz 1825.gadam. Darba ievadnodaļās tiek sniegts vispārīgs ieskats brīvmūrniecības izcelsmē, kā arī dots brīvmūrnieku terminoloģijas un svarīgāko idejisko nostādņu raksturojums. Darba pamatnodaļās ir analizēta brīvmūrnieku darbība Krievijas impērijas politiskajā un sabiedriskajā jomā.

This article discusses the development of teaching of musical instruments in Finland. The focus is fixed on the Soviet impact during the decades when Finnish music education was strongly developing, from the 1960s to 1980s. A battery of sensory tests is proposed to select potential descriptive panelists. This set of tests is flavor specific. Several abilities are examined: odor and taste recognition, odor memory, discrimination and descriptive capacities. A detailed example of such a battery to select a Camembert cheese descriptive panel is given. The objectives of each test are discussed. Stimuli are chosen to be consistent with the sensory properties which can be perceived in cheese. Score distributions demonstrate the discrimination among candidates for each test.
