The CoSMOS L-band experiment in Southeast Australia

The CoSMOS (Campaign for validating the Operation of the Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity mission) campaign was conducted during November of 2005 in the Goulburn River Catchment, in SE Australia. The main objective of CoSMOS was to obtain a series of L-band measurements from the air in order to validate the L-band emission model that will be used by the SMOS (Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity) ground segment processor. In addition, the campaign was designed to investigate open questions including the Sun-glint effect over land, the application of polarimetric measurements over land, and to clarify the importance of dew and interception for soil moisture retrievals. Seismostratigraphic modeling using constrained HVSR Data

An application of HVSR inversion is presented in order to verify the effectiveness of this technique for purposes of reconstruction of the buried geological setting where stratigraphic constraints are available. Specifically, the reconstruction of the stratigraphy in the studied area has been obtained by a seismic-stratigraphic three-dimensional modeling. This allowed for geophysical and geognostic data derived from surveys carried out during this study, as well as previously by the municipality of Palermo.

Abstract The presence of desalination systems in polygeneration facilities is usually limited by important difficulties in operating under non-stationary regimes typical of renewable energy sources. NtcA, es un factor de transcripción cianobacteriano perteneciente a la familia CRP. Es considerado el regulador global del nitrógeno en cianobacterias ya que presenta un regulón muy amplio que incluye muchos genes implicados en el metabolismo de nitrógeno. Se activa por 2-oxoglutarato(2-OG), un indicador del nivel de nitrógeno celular y es coactivado por una proteína llamada PipX, objeto importante de este estudio. A bajo nivel de 2-OG, PipX es secuestrada por la proteína señalizadora PII quedando inaccesible para activar NtcA. Se describen y caracterizan dos nuevos sintáxones correspondientes a comunidades rupícolas silicícolas bilbilitanas: Centaureo pinnatae-Dianthetum lusitani ass. nov. (con óptimo en bioclima mesomediterráneo seco-subhúmedo) y Hieracio schmidtii-Dianthetum lusitani biscutelletosum bilbilitanae subass. nov. (con óptimo en bioclima supra-oromediterráneo seco-subhúmedo). Se discuten sus afinidades sintaxonómicas y se aportan datos referentes a su importancia como refugio de endemismos de área restringida.
