CD4(+) and CD8(+) anergic T cells induced by interleukin-10-treated human dendritic cells display antigen-specific suppressor activity.

Interleukin-10 (IL-10)–treated dendritic cells (DCs) induce an alloantigen- or peptide-specific anergy in various CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell populations. In the present study, we analyzed whether these anergic T cells are able to regulate antigen-specific immunity. Coculture experiments revealed that alloantigen-specific anergic CD4+ and CD8+ T cells suppressed proliferation of syngeneic T cells in a dose-dependent manner. The same effect was observed when the hemagglutinin-specific CD4+T-cell clone HA1.7 or tyrosinase-specific CD8+ T cells were cocultured with anergic T cells of the same specificity. VIP-containing deep short-axon cells of the olfactory bulb innervate interneurons different from granule cells

This study investigates the targets of the population of vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP)-containing deep short-axon cells of the rat olfactory bulb (OB), combining single- and double-immunocytochemical approaches under light and electron microscopy. It has been assumed that deep short-axon cells innervate granule cells in the mammalian OB, but their synaptic connectivity has not been demonstrated to date. Characterisation of tumour-associated antigens in colon cancer.

In order to search for clinically relevant cancer-associated genes and to define further the spectrum of immunogenic proteins, we applied SEREX (serological identification of antigens by recombinant expression cloning) to analyse genes expressed in colon adenocarcinoma. Retention of aroma compounds in starch matrices: competitions between aroma compounds toward amylose and amylopectin

International audience; The retention of three aroma compounds-isoamyl acetate, ethyl hexanoate, and linalool--from starch-containing model food matrices was measured by headspace analysis, under equilibrium conditions. We studied systems containing standard or waxy corn starch with one or two aroma compounds. The three studied aroma compounds interact differently: ethyl hexanoate and linalool form complexes with amylose, and isoamyl acetate cannot. Stem cells are presumed to survive various stresses, since they are recruited to areas of tissue damage and regeneration, where inflammatory cytokines and cytotoxic cells may result in severe cell injury. We explored the ability of mesoangioblasts to respond to different cell stresses such as heat, heavy metals and osmotic stress, by analyzing heat shock protein (HSP)70 synthesis as a stress indicator. We found that the A6 mesoangioblast stem cells constitutively synthesize HSP70 in a heat shock transcription factor (HSF)-independent way. Influence of the food matrix structure on the retention of aroma compounds.

The retention of the aroma compounds in a multicomponent medium like the food matrix is influenced by their affinity with the protein when lipid is present at a low level (0.5%). The effect of the structure of the media is also studied by using two media with the same composition; one was emusified, and the other was not. Among the studied aroma compounds, 2-nonanone and isoamyl acetate present opposite behaviors: the volatility of isoamyl acetate is not affected by the change of the medium structure whereas that of 2-nonanone increases. Increasing the levels of 2-phenylethyl acetate in wine through the use of a mixed culture of Hanseniaspora osmophila and Saccharomyces cerevisiae

The impact of mixed cultures of Hanseniaspora osmophila and Saccharomyces cerevisiae with different initial yeast ratios on wine composition has been examined. The mixed culture significantly affected sugar consumption, the main enological parameters and ester concentrations, with the exception of glycerol, isoamyl acetate and diethyl succinate levels. Remarkably, in wines obtained with mixed cultures the concentration of 2-phenylethyl acetate was approximately 3- to 9-fold greater than that produced by S. cerevisiae pure culture. Neste artigo apresentam-se alguns dos resultados de um estudo intercultural sobre as concepções pessoais de inteligência e a auto-estima global, comparando alunos de dois níveis de ensino (secundário e superior) de Portugal e de Itália.
