Infrared bandshapes of intramolecularly H-bonded systems, 2,4,6-tribromophenol

Abstract A detailed quantitative analysis of the IR bandshape of the ν S (OH) vibration of 2,4,6-tribromophenol in a series of solvents of varying polarity is presented. A distinct dependence of band parameters on solvent polarity has been found. Various contributions to the bandshape are discussed.

The molecular mechanisms for the inverse-electron-demand Diels−Alder reactions between nitroethene and three substituted ethenes (propene, methyl vinyl ether, and dimethylvinylamine) to give the corresponding nitroso cycloadducts have been characterized with density functional theory methods using the B3LYP/6-31G* calculational level. On the basis of stability arguments and molecular orbital analysis relative rates, regioselectivity, and stereoselectivity, the presence of Lewis acid catalyst modeled by the BH3 system and the inclusion of solvent effects as a function of the nature of substituent in the dienophile fragment are analyzed and discussed. 1,2,4-Oxadiazole rearrangements involving an NNC side-chain sequence.

2009

The thermal rearrangement of N-1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl-hydrazones into 1,2,4-triazole derivatives is reported. This represents the first example of a three-atom side-chain rearrangement involving an NNC sequence linked at the C(3) of the oxadiazole. The reactions carried out under solvent-free conditions produced good to high yields of the final products.

International audience; Direct arylation of most five-membered ring heterocycles are generally easily accessible and strongly favored at the α-position using classical palladium-catalysis. Conversely, regioselective functionalization of such heterocycles at the concurrent β-position remains currently very challenging. Herein, we report general conditions for regioselective direct arylation at the β-position of pyrazoles, while C-H α-position is free. Formation of meso-1,2-Bis(dimethylamino)-1,2-diphenylethane by Oxidative C-C Coupling Reaction

The title compound was obtained from the reaction of N,N-dimethylbenzylamine with n-butyl lithium and sulfur in tetrahydrofuran at room temperature. Its molecular structure was investigated by means of single crystal X-ray diffraction and quantum chemical DFT methods. The formation of meso-1,2-bis(dimethylamino)-1,2-diphenylethane is likely to be due to an unusual α-deprotonation of N,N-dimethylbenzylamine, instead of the well known ortho-lithiation, with a subsequent oxidative C-C coupling of the anions. Pyrene-Capped CdSe@ZnS Nanoparticles as Sensitive Flexible Oxygen Sensors in Non-Aqueous Media**

A flexible, highly sensitive sensor of oxygen in non-aqueous solvents is described. It consists of CdSe/ZnS nanoparticles decorated with a considerable number of pyrene units, thus making the formation of the pyrene excimer possible. The emission of the pyrene excimer and that of the nanoparticle are suitably separated from each other and also from the excitation wavelength. A New pH-Dependent Macrocyclic Rhodamine B-Based Fluorescent Probe for Copper Detection in White Wine

For efficiently measuring copper (II) ions in the acidic media of white wine, a new chemosensor based on rhodamine B coupled to a tetraazamacrocyclic ring (13aneN4CH2NH2) was designed and synthesized by a one-pot reaction using ethanol as a green solvent. The obtained chemosensor was characterized via NMR, UV and fluorescent spectra. It was marked with no color emission under neutral pH conditions, with a pink color emission under acidic conditions, and a magenta color emission under acidic conditions where copper (II) ions were present. Role of Weak Hydrogen Bonds and Halogen Bonds in 5-Halo-1,3-dimethyluracils and Their Cocrystals—A Combined Experimental and Computational Study

Seven single crystals containing either N,N-dimethyluracil (DMHU) or one of its 5-halogenated derivatives (DMXU; X = F, Cl, Br, I) were prepared using N,N-dimethylformamide as the crystallization solvent. Single crystal X-ray diffraction and quantum chemical calculations carried out at the spin component scaled local MP2 level of theory were then used to study the intramolecular halogen and nonconventional hydrogen bonds present in the structures. The results were compared to and contrasted with the previously reported data for uracil and its halogenated derivatives.
