The vinylogous, anellated and non-anellated dihydropyridines 4 and their coupled analogues 5 are accessible through Hantzsch-type cyclization reactions. IR, 1H-NMR, and mass spectral data are in agreement with the postulated structures. Pharmacological investigations on electrically-stimulated left atria of guinea pigs with some of the compounds gave rise to positive inotropic activities whereas BaCl2-induced contractions of the ileum were inhibited in a dose-dependent manner by some of the products.
Spectral evolution simulation on leading multi-socket, multicore platforms

Spectral evolution simulations based on the observed Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) radio-maps are of paramount importance to understand the nature of extragalactic objects in astrophysics. This work analyzes the performance and scaling of a spectral evolution algorithm on three leading multi-socket, multi-core architectures. We evaluate three parallel models with different levels of data-sharing: a sharing approach, a privatizing approach and a hybrid approach. The back-reflection of emitted laser beam (optical feedback, also know as selfmixing) from various external interfaces are sufficient to cause instability, and prohibiting its use in various fields such as communication, spectroscopy, imaging to name a few. So it is desirable to study the laser dynamics and the conditions causing it to be stable in spite of strong optical feedback. Tuning of the electronic and photophysical properties of ladder-type quaterphenyl by selective methylene-bridge fluorination

The photophysics (spectral positions, band shapes, fluorescence quantum yields and lifetimes) of a series of fluorinated ladder type quaterphenyls L4P and L4P-Fn (n = 2, 4, 6) depend strongly on the degree and position of fluorine, despite the fact that substitution is not performed in the rings but only in methylene-bridges. This is driven by subtle differences in the molecular orbitals (MOs) participating in the electronic transitions, and in the vibronic pattern of the S0 and S1 electronic states as revealed by (TD)DFT calculations. In this work we develop an analytical approach for calculation of the all-order interspike interval density (AOISID), show its connection with the autocorrelation function, and try to explain the discovered resemblance of AOISID to the power spectrum of the same spike train.

Resonant laser ionization and spectroscopy are widely used techniques at radioactive ion beam facilities to produce pure beams of exotic nuclei and measure the shape, size, spin and electromagnetic multipole moments of these nuclei. However, in such measurements it is difficult to combine a high efficiency with a high spectral resolution. Here we demonstrate the on-line application of atomic laser ionization spectroscopy in a supersonic gas jet, a technique suited for high-precision studies of the ground- and isomeric-state properties of nuclei located at the extremes of stability. Considerations on the modelling and optimisation of resolution of ionisable compounds in extended pH-range columns

Abstract The problems associated to the modelling and optimisation of the chromatographic resolution of mixtures involving ionisable solutes at varying pH and acetonitrile content are discussed. Several retention models that separate the contributions of solute, column and stationary phase, were used. The retention was predicted with low errors in large pH domains (2–12), which was an essential requirement to face the optimisation of resolution. The selected mixture was particularly problematic under the viewpoint of resolution, owing to the excessively diverse acid–base behaviour of solutes. A series of new triazolopyridine-based phosphines has been prepared. These compounds revealed unexpected spectroscopic patterns. In particular, the NMR spectra are highly dependent on the relative conformational preference of the phosphine substituent at C7. Here, we report on their complete NMR analysis, X-ray structures and DFT calculations that confirm the particular arrangement of the phosphorus lone pair orbital related to the substituent pattern of the chosen phosphine.
High-resolution triple-resonance autoionization of uranium isotopes

Abstract The near-threshold autoionization (AI) spectrum of uranium has been investigated by triple-resonance excitation with single-mode continuous lasers. Spectra were recorded over the first ∼30 cm − 1 above the first ionization limit at a resolution of 3 × 10 − 4 cm − 1 using intermediate states with different J values (6, 7, 8) to assign AI level total angular momentum J AI = 5 to 9. Resonances with widths ranging from 8 MHz to 30 GHz were observed; the strongest ones have J AI = 9 and widths of ∼60 MHz.
