Multiquark structures in heavy-light meson systems

We look for possible signatures of multiquark structures in the heavy-light meson spectra. The controversial D s 0 ∗ ( 2317 ) and D s 1 ∗ ( 2460 ) states are properly described if considered as a mixture of conventional P-wave q q ¯ and four-quark components. The recently discovered D s J ∗ ( 2860 ) appears as the orthogonal partner of the D s 0 ∗ ( 2317 ) . Similar structures are predicted in the B s sector. We also consider the possible existence of isolated I = 1 four-quark resonances and we argue that their existence can disentangle the ϒ ( n S ) → ϒ ( m S ) π π decay puzzle.

Laser spectroscopy of francium isotopes at the borders of the region of reflection asymmetry

The magnetic dipole moments and changes in mean-square charge radii of the neutron-rich $^{218m,219,229,231}\text{Fr}$ isotopes were measured with the newly-installed Collinear Resonance Ionization Spectroscopy (CRIS) beam line at ISOLDE, CERN, probing the $7s~^{2}S_{1/2}$ to $8p~^{2}P_{3/2}$ atomic transition. The $\delta\langle r^{2}\rangle^{A,221}$ values for $^{218m,219}\text{Fr}$ and $^{229,231}\text{Fr}$ follow the observed increasing slope of the charge radii beyond $N~=~126$. The charge radii odd-even staggering in this neutron-rich region is discussed, showing that $^{220}\text{Fr}$ has a weakly inverted odd-even staggering while $^{228}\text{Fr}$ has normal staggering. Effect of the non-gaussianity on the measurement error for the filtered 1/f noise intensity

To study the nature of the 1/f noise phenomenon in conductors, we seek a tool for testing different hypotheses of 1/f noise origin. The method analyzing the noise intensity at the output of a bandpass filter is discussed for the case of non-Gaussian processes. Data on measurement error are presented for the 1/f noise intensity in GaAs films and the Gaussian white noise emulated by a computer. A numerical model of 1/f noise as the superposition of telegraph random processes has been created. This method requires further improvement to check the noise for stationarity. Some ideas of how to do that are proposed.

Kaonic production of $ \Lambda$ (1405) off deuteron target in chiral dynamics

The K^- induced production of Lambda(1405) is investigated in K^- d to pi Sigma n reactions based on coupled-channels chiral dynamics, in order to discuss the resonance position of the Lambda(1405) in the KbarN channel. We find that the K^-d to Lambda(1405)n process favors the production of Lambda(1405) initiated by the KbarN channel. The present approach indicates that the Lambda(1405) resonance position is 1420 MeV rather than 1405 MeV in the pi Sigma invariant mass spectra of K- d to pi Sigma n reactions. This is consistent with an observed spectrum of the K^- d to pi^+ Sigma^- n with 686-844 MeV/c incident K^- by bubble chamber experiments done in the 70's. Our model also reproduces the…

In this work, we present a theoretical study of the electron spectral shapes for the second-forbidden nonunique $\beta^-$-decay transitions $^{59}\textrm{Fe}(3/2^-)\to\,^{59}\textrm{Co}(7/2^-)$ and $^{60}\textrm{Fe}(0^+)\to\,^{60}\textrm{Co}(2^+)$ in the framework of the nuclear shell model. We have computed the involved wave functions by carrying out a complete $0\hbar\omega$ calculation in the full $fp$ model space using the KB3G and GXPF1A effective interactions. When compared with the available data, these interactions predict the low-energy spectra and electromagnetic properties of the involved nuclei quite successfully. Lorentz Multiplet Structure of Baryon Spectra and Relativistic Description

The pole positions of the various baryon resonances are known to reveal well-pronounced clustering, so-called Hoehler clusters. For nonstrange baryons the Hoehler clusters are shown to be identical to Lorentz multiplets of the type (j,j)*[(1/2,0)+(0,1/2)] with j being a half-integer. For the Lambda hyperons below 1800 MeV these clusters are shown to be of the type [(1,0)+ (0,1)]*[(1/2,0)+(0,1/2)] while above 1800 MeV they are parity duplicated (J,0)+(0,J) (Weinberg-Ahluwalia) states. Therefore, for Lambda hyperons the restoration of chiral symmetry takes place above 1800 MeV. Spectra and ratios of identified particles in Au+Au andd+Au collisions atsNN=200GeV

The transverse momentum (p(T)) spectra and ratios of identified charged hadrons (pi(+/-), K-+/-, p, (p) over bar) produced in root s(NN) = 200 GeV Au + Au and d + Au collisions are reported in five different centrality classes for each collision species. The measurements of pions and protons are reported up to p(T) = 6 GeV/c (5 GeV/c), and the measurements of kaons are reported up to p(T) = 4 GeV/c (3.5 GeV/c) in Au + Au (d + Au) collisions. In the intermediate p(T) region, between 2 and 5 GeV/c, a significant enhancement of baryon-to-meson ratios compared to those measured in p + p collisions is observed. Lattice Gauge Theory Sum Rule for the Shear Channel

An exact expression is derived for the $(\omega,p)=0$ thermal correlator of shear stress in SU($N_c$) lattice gauge theory. I remove a logarithmic divergence by taking a suitable linear combination of the shear correlator and the correlator of the energy density. The operator product expansion shows that the same linear combination has a finite limit when $\omega\to\infty$. It follows that the vacuum-subtracted shear spectral function vanishes at large frequencies at least as fast as $\alpha_s^2(\omega)$ and obeys a sum rule. The trace anomaly makes a potential contribution to the spectral sum rule which remains to be fully calculated, but which I estimate to be numerically small for $T\gtr…

Mesonic and binding contributions to the nuclear Drell-Yan process

We have evaluated the Drell-Yan cross section in nuclei paying special attention to the meson cloud contribution from pion and rho-meson, for which an accurate calculation using the meson nuclear spectral functions is used. Similarly, the nucleonic contribution is evaluated in terms of a relativistic nucleon spectral function. Fair agreement with experiment is found for different nuclei and the results show a sizeable contribution from the renormalized meson cloud. In order to reproduce the experiment a novel element is introduced, consisting of a gradual energy loss of the incoming proton in its pass through the nucleus which produces a strong A dependence at x_1 large.

Systematic QRPA study of β− and decay transitions to excited states of 110–114Cd and 114–122Sn

Abstract A systematic study of the β− and β + EC decay transitions of odd-odd nuclei into the ground state, first excited quadrupole state (21+) and the two-quadrupole-phonon triplet (02ph+, 22ph+ and 42ph+) of the final even-even nuclei 110–114Cd and 114–122Sn is performed. In these cases the states of the even-even nucleus are fed both by β− as well as β + EC decay transitions of the two adjacent double-odd nuclei. Such exceptional circumstances help to study the β− and β + EC Gamow-Teller decay on equal footing starting from the predictions of the combined QRPA and pn-QRPA theories.
