Taming the higher power corrections in semileptonic B decays

2016

We study the effect of dimension 7 and 8 operators on inclusive semileptonic B decays and the extraction of |Vcb|. Using moments of semileptonic B decay spectra and information based on the Lowest-Lying State saturation Approximation (LLSA) we perform a global fit of the nonperturbative parameters of the heavy quark expansion including for the first time the O(1/mb^{4,5}) contributions. Higher power corrections appear to have a very small effect on the extraction of |Vcb|, independently of the weight we attribute to the LLSA.

Recurrence of the blue wing enhancements in the high ionization lines of SDSS 1004+4112 A

2006

We present integral field spectroscopic observations of the quadruple-lensed QSO SDSS 1004+4112 taken with the fiber system INTEGRAL at the William Herschel Telescope on 2004 January 19. In 2003 May, a blueward enhancement in the high-ionization lines of SDSS 1004+4112A was detected, and then it faded. Our observations are the first to note a second event of similar characteristics less than 1 year after. Although initially attributed to microlensing, the resemblance among the spectra of both events and the absence of microlensing-induced changes in the continuum of component A are puzzling. The lack of a convincing explanation under the microlensing or intrinsic variability hypotheses make…

Photometric and Hα Observations of LSI+61°303

1994

The Be massive X-ray binary LSI+61°303 is a 26.5 days periodic radiosource (Taylor & Gregory, 1984), exhibiting radio outbursts maxima between phases 0.6-0.8. Evidence of a photometric period of similar value has also been reported (Paredes & Figueras, 1986; Mendelson & Mazeh, 1989). The previous spectroscopic radial velocity observations of Hutchings & Crampton (1981) are in agreement with the radio period, and give support to the presence of a companion. We present new optical and infrared photometric observations and high resolution Hα spectra of LSI+61°303.

A detailed spectroscopy of the carbon-rich star BD +57° 2161

2005

An LTE abundance analysis based on high-resolution spectra is presented for the carbon-rich star BD +57° 2161, whose evolutionary status is unknown. With [C/Fe] = +0.4 dex and a mean s-process overabundance of [s/Fe] ≃ +1.5 dex the peculiar atmospheric composition of BD +57° 2161 is confirmed. The 12 C/ 13 C abundance ratio was found to be about 10. The mild iron deficiency, [Fe/H] = -0.2, supports the idea that BD +57° 2161 could be an old-disk-population object. Radial-velocity measurements confirm the binary nature of the star. Therefore the peculiar chemical composition could be due to the mass transfer from the secondary - AGB star in the past. Orbital parameters are estimated for anot…

Study of resonance interactions in polyatomic molecules on the basis of highly accurate experimental data: Set of strongly interacting Bands ν10(B1),…

2016

Abstract The highly accurate (experimental accuracy in line positions ~ ( 1 − 3 ) × 10 − 4 cm − 1 ) FTIR ro-vibrational spectra of CH2=CD2 in the region of 600–1300 cm−1, where the fundamental bands ν10, ν7, ν4, ν8, ν3, and ν6 are located, were recorded and analyzed with the Hamiltonian model which takes into account resonance interactions between all six studied bands. About 12 200 ro-vibrational transitions belonging to these bands (that is considerably more than it was made in the preceding studies for the bands ν10, ν7, ν8, ν3 and ν6; transitions belonging to the ν4 band were assigned for the first time) were assigned in the experimental spectra with the maximum values of quantum number…

High-resolution spectrum of the ν+ν(E),ν+ν(E),ν+ν(A), and ν3+ν4(A2) bands of the PH3 molecule: assignments and preliminary analysis

2004

Abstract The high-resolution (0.005 cm −1 ) Fourier transform infrared spectrum of PH3 is recorded in the region between 3280 and 3580 cm −1 where the following bands are located: ν 1 +ν 4 (E), ν 3 +ν 4 (E), ν 3 +ν 4 (A 1 ) , forbidden on symmetry band ν3+ν4(A2), and very weak bands ν 1 +ν 2 (A 1 ), ν 2 +ν 3 (E) . Transitions are assigned to the first four ones. Vibrational analysis of known experimental data is made.

High-resolution spectroscopy and analysis of the stretching dyad of osmium tetroxide

2011

Abstract OsO4 is a heavy tetrahedral molecule that may constitute a benchmark for quantum chemistry calculations. Its favorable spin statistics (due to the zero nuclear spin of oxygen atoms) is such that only A1 and A2 rovibrational levels are allowed, leading to a dense, but quite easily resolved spectrum. Most lines are single ones, instead of complex line clusters as in the case of other heavy spherical-tops like SF6, for instance. It is thus possible to fully assign and fit the spectrum and to obtain precise experimental effective molecular parameters. The strong ν 3 stretching fundamental has been studied a long time ago as an isolated band [McDowell RS, Radziemski LJ, Flicker H, Galbr…

The branching ratio of intercombination A1Σ+∼b3Π→a3Σ+/X1Σ+transitions in the RbCs molecule: Measurements and calculations

2020

Abstract We observed the A 1 Σ + ∼ b 3 Π → a 3 Σ + / X 1 Σ + laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) of the RbCs molecule excited from the ground X 1 Σ + state by the Ti:Sapphire laser. The LIF spectra from the common perturbed levels of the singlet-triplet A ∼ b complex was recorded by the Fourier-transform (FT) spectrometer with the instrumental resolution of 0.03 cm − 1 . The relative intensity distribution in the rotationally resolved A ∼ b → a 3 Σ + ( v a ) / X 1 Σ + ( v X ) progressions was measured, and their branching ratio was found to be about of 1 ÷ 5 × 10 − 4 in the bound region of the a 3 Σ + and X 1 Σ + states. The experiment was complemented with the scalar- and full-relativistic ca…

High resolution analysis of the SO2 spectrum in the 2600–2900cm−1 region: 2ν3, ν2+2ν3−ν2 and 2ν1+ν2 bands

2012

Abstract Infrared spectrum of the SO 2 molecule was recorded with high resolution in the 2600– 2900 cm − 1 region. Spectrum was recorded with the Fourier transform interferometer Bruker IFS-120 HR in Oulu (Finland) with the pressure of 111 Pa and the absorption path length of 163.2 m that allowed us to record 2 ν 3 and 2 ν 1 + ν 2 weak bands. The 2 ν 3 band discussed earlier by Lafferty et al., was re-analyzed, and considerably more information was extracted from the spectrum (more than 3800 transitions of the 2 ν 3 band were assigned in the experimental spectrum with maximum values of quantum numbers, J max . = 76 and K a max . = 26 ). On the basis of the procedure discussed in Ulenikov et…
