STABILITY OF A STOCHASTICALLY PERTURBED MODEL OF INTRACELLULAR SINGLE-STRANDED RNA VIRUS REPLICATION

Compared to the replication of double-stranded RNA and DNA viruses, the replication of single-stranded viruses requires the production of a number of intermediate strands that serve as templates for the synthesis of genomic-sense strands. Two theoretical extreme mechanisms for replication for such single-stranded viruses have been proposed; one extreme being represented by the so-called linear stamping machine and the opposite extreme by the exponential growth. Our investigation aims to understand the genetic structure and evolutionary history of Petagnaea gussonei, an ancient and endangered species belonging to the Saniculoideae subfamily (Apiaceae). It is paleoendemic to Sicily, with a small number of populations in the Nebrodi Mountains. A total of seven chloroplast microsatellite repeat loci and 12 AFLP primer combinations were used to screen 115 individuals corresponding to 17 populations. The ratio of seed to pollen flow was also calculated using the modified Ennos equation. ssRNS bakteriofāgu apvalka proteīnu veidotās vīrusveidīgās daļiņas tiek veiksmīgi izmantotas vakcīnu dizainā savu imunogēno īpašību un spējas prezentēt patogēnu epitopus. Bakalaura darbā tika pētīta trīs jaunu ssRNS bakteriofāgu apvalka proteīnu kovalento dimēru spēja pašsavākties imunogēnās himērās VLP. Jau iepriekš izveidoto apvalka proteīnu kovalento dimēru sekvenču N- vai C- galam ģenētiski pievienoja Laimas slimības izraisītājas Borrelia burgdorferi proteīna BB0689 sekvenci. Iegūtajiem sešiem konstruktiem tika pārbaudīta himērā proteīna producēšanās un šķīdība. Šķīstošus proteīnus attīrīja ar gelfiltrāciju. VLP izveidošanos pārbaudīja elektronu mikroskopā.
