Coulomb excitation of Rn-222

The nature of quadrupole and octupole collectivity in 222Rn was investigated by determining the electric-quadrupole (E2) and octupole (E3) matrix elements using subbarrier, multistep Coulomb excitation. The radioactive 222Rn beam, accelerated to 4.23 MeV/u, was provided by the HIE-ISOLDE facility at CERN. Data were collected in the Miniball γ-ray spectrometer following the bombardment of two targets, 120Sn and 60Ni. Transition E2 matrix elements within the ground-state and octupole bands were measured up to 10ℏ and the results were consistent with a constant intrinsic electric-quadrupole moment, 518(11)efm2. Measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry of e(+)e(-)-]z-]b(b)over-bar using prompt leptons and a lifetime tag

The forward-backward asymmetry of the process e+e-→Z→b {Mathematical expression} has been measured using events collected by the DELPHI experiment during the 1991 and 1992 LEP runs. This data sample corresponded to 884 000 hadronic Z decays at a centre-of-mass energy {Mathematical expression}. The tagging of b-quark events was performed using two approaches; the first was based on the semileptonic decay channels b→X+μ and b→X+e, the second used a lifetime tag with jet-charge reconstruction. Nonlinear pseudo-bosons

In a series of recent papers the author has introduced the notion of (regular) pseudo-bosons showing, in particular, that two number-like operators, whose spectra are ${\Bbb N}_0:={\Bbb N}\cup\{0\}$, can be naturally introduced. Here we extend this construction to operators with rather more general spectra. Of course, this generalization can be applied to many more physical systems. We discuss several examples of our framework.

Abstract An analysis of the electronic properties of amorphous semiconductor-electrolyte junction is reported for passive films grown on Nb in alkaline solution and in a large range of thickness (~20nm ÷ ~250nm). A modelling of electronic density of state (DOS) has been carried out by fitting EIS spectra, at different potentials and in a range of frequencies (0.1 Hz ≤ f ≤100 kHz), and differential admittance (DA) data of a-Nb 2 O 5 /El interface. The fitting of EIS and DA curves was performed by using the theory of amorphous semiconductor Schottky barrier and a non-homogeneous DOS distribution.

The realistic implementation of quantum architectures relies on the development of scalable, resource-efficient platforms that are compatible with CMOS technologies as well as fiber networks. This work demonstrates novel schemes utilized for time-/frequency-bin entanglement generation and processing by leveraging existing telecommunications and integrated photonics infrastructures.

Norberto Bobbio’s introduced the expression “age of rights” to indicate the idea of an universal consensus on some values which can be interpreted as a signum prognosticum – in kantian terms – of mankind’s moral progress. The symbolic starting point of this age is the Universal Declaration of Human Rights proclaimed in 1948.
