A new approach for deducing the stage-discharge relationship of a triangular broad-crested device

In this paper, the outflow process of a triangular broad-crested device is examined using the dimensional analysis and the incomplete self-similarity theory. A new theoretical stage-discharge relationship is proposed, and its applicability is verified using measurements available in literature. The proposed power equation is characterized by a coefficient depending on device apex angle and a constant value of the exponent.

Flumes with a local contraction of the channel width are a common way for accurately measuring the flow discharge. In this paper, the outflow process of rectangular broad and sharp-crested contraction devices is modeled using the dimensional analysis and the incomplete self-similarity condition. The proposed theoretical stage-discharge relationship is tested using measurements available in the literature. In cardiovascular variability analysis, the significance of the coupling between two series is commonly assessed by defining a zero level on the magnitude-squared coherence (MSC). Although the use of the conventional value of 0.5 does not consider the dependence of MSC estimates on the analysis parameters, a theoretical threshold Tt is available only for the weighted covariance (WC) estimator. Abstract Vibrio vulnificus serovar E, a bacterial pathogen for eels cultured in intensive systems, is transmitted through water and enters into new hosts mainly via gills. The main objective of this work was to study the kinetics of antibody production to V. vulnificus in serum and mucus and their relationship with protection after vaccination. To quantify local mucus antibodies, a new ‘in situ’ dot blot immunoassay using image analysis has been developed. Individual measurements and nested designs in aquaculture experiments: a simulation study

Simple and nested models for analysis of variance (ANOVA) in aquaculture experiments were compared with the help of computer simulations. Simple models for analysing variables that are based on tank means, such as final weight and growth rate, were found to be sensitive to differences in the number of individual observations in each tank. In comparison to nested models that take into account individual measurements, the simple models were found to overestimate the F ratio and increase the risk of committing type I error, i.e., accepting a false alternative hypothesis. Effect of the wooden vats on traditional cheese characteristics

Wooden vats have been used for centuries to collect and transform milk by farmers and cheesemakers all over the world. Nowadays, the tree species mostly used to this purpose are Douglas fir and chestnut. The use of wooden vats is mandatory for the production of all PDO Sicilian cheeses, such as Ragusano, Pecorino Siciliano, Piacentinu Ennese and Vastedda della valle del Belìce.
