Single-cell analysis of population context advances RNAi screening at multiple levels

Isogenic cells in culture show strong variability, which arises from dynamic adaptations to the microenvironment of individual cells. Here we study the influence of the cell population context, which determines a single cell's microenvironment, in image‐based RNAi screens. We developed a comprehensive computational approach that employs Bayesian and multivariate methods at the single‐cell level. Evaluation of the animal-assisted therapy in Alzheimer's disease

Animal-assisted therapy sessions have been set up in a protected unit for patients with a dementia-related syndrome. The aim is to measure the effects of animal-assisted therapy on behavioural disorders in daily life and care. The results obtained provided some interesting areas to explore and recommendations with a view to optimising the implementation of such a system.

Palladium-NHC (NHC = N-heterocyclic Carbene)-Catalyzed Suzuki–Miyaura Cross-Coupling of Alkyl Amides

We report the Pd-catalyzed Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling of aliphatic amides. Although tremendous advances have been made in the cross-coupling of aromatic amides, C–C bond formation from aliphatic amides by selective N–C(O) cleavage has remained a major challenge. This longstanding problem in Pd catalysis has been addressed herein by a combination of (1) the discovery of N,N-pym/Boc amides as a class of readily accessible amide-based reagents for cross-coupling and (2) steric tuning of well-defined Pd(II)-NHC catalysts for cross-coupling. Regulatory frameworks on intra-EU mobility and flexible cross-border employment relations have stimulated competition on labour costs by recruiting migrants via cheaper labour market regimes. While it allows firms to remunerate migrants under different terms and conditions, blurring regulatory boundaries also generates opportunities for non-compliance, resulting in violations of migrant labour rights across Europe. Standard video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery has been reported as a minimally invasive approach alternative to sternotomy for management of myasthenia gravis (MG) associated with thymoma or thymic hyperplasia. Uniportal video-thoracoscopy is an evolution of standard multi-portal video-thoracoscopy for management of several thoracic diseases but its role for resecting mediastinal tumor remains under-evaluated. Herein, we describe our experience with bilateral uniportal thoracoscopic sequential extended thymectomy with case and video illustrations.

Real-world experience with obeticholic acid in patients with primary biliary cholangitis

Background & aims Obeticholic acid (OCA) is the second-line treatment approved for patients with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and an inadequate response or intolerance to ursodeoxycholic acid.
