Two‐sample problems in statistical data modelling

A common problem in mathematical statistics is to check whether two samples differ from each other. From modelling point of view it is possible to make a statistical test for the equality of two means or alternatively two distribution functions. The second approach allows to represent the two‐sample test graphically. This can be done by adding simultaneous confidence bands to the probability‐probability (P — P) or quantile‐quantile (Q — Q) plots. In this paper we compare empirically the accuracy of the classical two‐sample t‐test, empirical likelihood method and several bootstrap methods. Hi ha mecanismes no verbals que també actuen com a recursos díctics en moltes situacions de la llengua oral. Singular (p, q)-equations with superlinear reaction and concave boundary condition

We consider a parametric nonlinear elliptic problem driven by the sum of a p-Laplacian and of a q-Laplacian (a (Formula presented.) -equation) with a singular and (Formula presented.) -superlinear reaction and a Robin boundary condition with (Formula presented.) -sublinear boundary term (Formula presented.). So, the problem has the combined effects of singular, concave and convex terms. We look for positive solutions and prove a bifurcation-type theorem describing the changes in the set of positive solutions as the parameter varies.

En aquest article es descriuen els sistemes de traducció automàtica, les seves aplicacions actuals i les principals dificultats que ha d’afrontar aquesta tecnologia lingüística. Es presenta el sistema Apertium, una plataforma de traducció automàtica de codi obert sobre la qual s’han construït diversos traductors automàtics entre diferents parells d’idiomes, en els quals està inclòs el català. Basant-se en l’experiència dels autors, es descriuen algunes tensions que es donen en el desenvolupament de les dades lingüístiques d’un traductor automàtic i les solucions de compromís a què cal arribar per a construir sistemes útils.

Social television has transformed the traditional role of the television viewers by providing ‘ordinary people’ access to the public stage. This article describes how public access to television affected the dialogues of Finnish tweeters on Twitter during the massive media event of the FIFA World Cup. The effect of contextual variables on the attacking style of play in professional soccer

The aim of this paper was to investigate the interactive effects of contextual variables on the attacking style of play in professional soccer. 5849 team possessions from 40 random matches from Spanish La Liga and English Premier League 2017-2018 were analysed by means of multidimensional observation. Multilevel multivariate logistic regressions showed that home teams had higher odds of implementing fast attacks (p<.05) and lower odds of implementing direct attacks (p<.05) than combinative attacks.
