Landscapes of loss and destruction: : Sámi elders’ childhood memories of the second world war

The so-called Lapland War between Finland and Germany at the end of the Second World War led to a mass-scale destruction of Lapland. Both local Finnish residents and the indigenous Sámi groups lost their homes, and their livelihoods suffered in many ways. The narratives of these deeply traumatic experiences have long been neglected and suppressed in Finland and have been studied only recently by academics and acknowledged in public. In this text, we analyze the interviews with four elders of one Sámi village, Vuotso. We explore their memories, from a child’s perspective, scrutinizing the narration as a multilayered affective process that involves sensual and embodied dimensions of memory. ©…

Przedmiotem analizy są jednostki frazeologiczne prezentujące obraz burzy jako zjawiska meteorologicznego w języku czeskim. Przedstawione zostały frazeologizmy z nadrzędnym komponentem bouřka i komponentami blesk, hrom, vítr, określającymi zjawiska towarzyszące burzy, stanowiące równocześnie jej podstawowe oznaki utrwalone w języku. Omówione w artykule jednostki frazeologiczne służą wyrażaniu głównie negatywnego wartościowania, które wypływa z ludzkiego doświadczenia, z kontaktu z groźnymi zjawiskami przyrodniczymi. 20th-century Baltic drama: comparative paradigms

The paper pays attention to the issues of commensurability in the development of 20th-century Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian literatures. It focuses upon thematic and aesthetic patterns of Baltic drama during this time period which is further subdivided into two parts, the first and the second half of the 20th century. The discussion about the genesis of Baltic drama during the late 19th, early 20th century is followed by an analysis of the impact of the nation states of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania upon the institutionalization and development of drama and theatre during the 1920s and 1930s.
