CoMo catalysts supported on aluminosilicates: synergy between support and sodium effects

2004

Abstract The structural properties and the hydrodesulfurization (HDS) activity of sodium doped and sodium free CoMo catalysts supported on amorphous aluminosilicates (ASA) were investigated as a function of different SiO2:Al2O3 ratios. The support yielding the most active catalyst, (66% alumina) doped with different amounts of sodium, was used for a series of similar catalysts in order to study the effect of the alkali ion on the catalytic performance. The supports were prepared by sol–gel method and the catalysts were prepared by incipient wet impregnation method. The structure and the surface of the various samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), temperature-programmed reduc…

Dithiothreitol Treatment of Madin-Darby Canine Kidney Cells Reversibly Blocks Export from the Endoplasmic Reticulum but Does Not Affect Vectorial Tar…

1995

Addition of dithiothreitol (DTT) to the culture medium of Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells blocks transport of newly synthesized gp80 (clusterin, apolipoprotein J), a soluble marker protein for apical exocytosis in this epithelial cell line. In cells treated with DTT during pulse labeling, gp80 is retained in the endoplasmic reticulum. After removal of the reducing agent, gp80 is posttranslationally oxidized and secreted at the apical surface of MDCK cell monolayers. This demonstrates that when folded and oxidized posttranslationally, gp80 can acquire a conformation that exhibits sorting signals for vectorial targeting. In the continuous presence of DTT, the transepithelial electrical…

The cytosolic Arabidopsis thaliana cysteine desulfurase ABA3 delivers sulfur to the sulfurtransferase STR18

2020

ABSTRACTThe biosynthesis of many sulfur-containing molecules depends on cysteine as a sulfur source. Cysteine desulfurase (CD) and rhodanese (Rhd) domain-containing protein families participate in the trafficking of sulfur for various metabolic pathways in bacteria and human, but their connection is not yet described in plants. The existence of natural chimeric proteins, however, containing both CD and Rhd domains in specific bacterial genera suggests a general interaction between both proteins. We report here the biochemical relationships between two cytosolic proteins from Arabidopsis thaliana, a Rhd domain containing protein, the sulfurtransferase 18 (STR18), and a CD isoform referred to…

Plant protein phosphorylation monitored by capillary liquid chromatography–element mass spectrometry

2007

Abstract Many essential cellular functions such as growth rate, motility, and metabolic activity are linked to reversible protein phosphorylation, since they are controlled by signaling cascades based mainly on phosphorylation/dephosphorylation events. Quantification of global or site-specific protein phosphorylation is not straightforward with standard proteomic techniques. The coupling of capillary liquid chromatography (μLC) with ICP-MS (inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry) is a method which allows a quantitative screening of protein extracts for their phosphorus and sulfur content, and thus provides access to the protein phosphorylation degree. In extension of a recent pilot st…

Organomercury(II) derivatives of 2-thiouracil. An infrared and proton magnetic resonance study of structures

1983

Abstract The novel complexes RHg(s2UraH−1) (R = Me, Ph) where s2UraH−1 is the monoanion of 2-thiouracil, have been synthesized. Comparison of the infrared spectra of the solid complexes and of 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of the complexes in dimethyl-d6 sulfoxide with spectra of s2 Ura and Na[s2UraH−1] allows the recognition of the existence of isomers in the solid, with bonding to exocyclic sulfur and to pyrimidine nitrogens. In solution, a simpler pattern is observed, with 2J(1H199Hg) indicating bonding to sulfur only.

Accuracy of Rotational Parameters Predicted by High-Level Quantum-Chemical Calculations: Case Study of Sulfur-Containing Molecules of Astrochemical I…

2018

The accuracy of rotational parameters obtained from high-level quantum-chemical calculations is discussed for molecules containing second-row atoms. The main focus is on computed rotational constants for which two statistical analyses have been carried out. A first benchmark study concerns sulfur-bearing species and involves 15 molecules (for a total of 74 isotopologues). By comparing 15 different computational approaches, all of them based on the coupled-cluster singles and doubles approach (CCSD) augmented by a perturbative treatment of triple excitations, CCSD(T), we have analyzed the effects on computed rotational constants due to (i) extrapolation to the complete basis-set limit, (ii) …

The Dnmt2 RNA methyltransferase homolog of Geobacter sulfurreducens specifically methylates tRNA-Glu

2014

Dnmt2 enzymes are conserved in eukaryotes, where they methylate C38 of tRNA-Asp with high activity. Here, the activity of one of the very few prokaryotic Dnmt2 homologs from Geobacter species (GsDnmt2) was investigated. GsDnmt2 was observed to methylate tRNA-Asp from flies and mice. Unexpectedly, it had only a weak activity toward its matching Geobacter tRNA-Asp, but methylated Geobacter tRNA-Glu with good activity. In agreement with this result, we show that tRNA-Glu is methylated in Geobacter while the methylation is absent in tRNA-Asp. The activities of Dnmt2 enzymes from Homo sapiens, Drosophila melanogaster, Schizosaccharomyces pombe and Dictyostelium discoideum for methylation of the …
