Human-centered design methods should be implemented throughout the client information system (CIS) development process to understand social welfare professionals’ needs, tasks, and contexts of use. The aim of this study was to examine Finnish social welfare professionals’ experiences of participating in CIS development. A national cross-sectional web-based survey on the CIS experiences of social welfare professionals (1145 respondents) was conducted in Finland in spring 2019. Hypes can be a significant contributor in the mainstreaming of sustainable products. Former research on hypes has been supplier oriented, and thus little is known of their effect on new market formation. Our paper contributes to this research gap by examining the establishment of the ‘meat substitute’ category in Finland using press articles, retailer interviews and consumer panel data. We show how the emergence and legitimation of the meat substitute category depended heavily on the hype arising around a single product, called Pulled Oats (PO). Asthma-Related Knowledge and Practices among Mothers of Asthmatic Children: A Latent Class Analysis

Mothers’ knowledge about childhood asthma influences management practices and disease control, but validating knowledge/practice questionnaires is difficult due to the lack of a gold standard. We hypothesized that Latent Class Analysis (LCA) could help identify underlying mother profiles with similar knowledge/practices. A total of 438 mothers of asthmatic children answered a knowledge/practice questionnaire. Using answers to the knowledge/practice questionnaire as manifest variables, LCA identified two classes: Class 1, “poor knowledge” (33%); Class 2, “good knowledge” (67%). Our aim was to compare hypertension awareness, treatment, and control, and how they have changed over time, in high-income countries. Methods We used data from people aged 40–79 years who participated in 123 national health examination surveys from 1976 to 2017 in 12 high-income countries: Australia, Canada, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Spain, the UK, and the USA. Reception of the quality assurance commitments of the Bologna process in Finnish higher education institutions

AbstractThis article analyses Finnish higher education institutions’ reception of the implementation of the new quality assurance systems that governments participating in the Bologna Process have committed to establishing in the Berlin Communique of 2003. The data were collected using a web survey and the respondents were classified with a cluster analysis. The reception was more positive in the polytechnics than in the research universities and women were more positive than men. People working in managerial positions were most positive about, and committed to, quality assurance. Most critical were young researchers in research universities working in temporary jobs. Former agricultural lands may host peculiar biota, because agriculture activities have changed the physical, chemical and biological features of the soil; however, biodiversity in afforested fields is poorly known. The aim of this study was to investigate the diversity of ground-dwelling true bugs (Heteroptera) in early successional afforested fields in central Finland. We used a large-scale field experiment, in which agricultural land had been afforested 25 years ago by planting monocultures of birch, pine and spruce trees.
