A Hierarchy of Twofold Resource Allocation Automata Supporting Optimal Sampling
2009
We consider the problem of allocating limited sampling resources in a "real-time" manner with the purpose of estimating multiple binomial proportions. More specifically, the user is presented with `n ' sets of data points, S 1 , S 2 , ..., S n , where the set S i has N i points drawn from two classes {*** 1 , *** 2 }. A random sample in set S i belongs to *** 1 with probability u i and to *** 2 with probability 1 *** u i , with {u i }. i = 1, 2, ...n , being the quantities to be learnt. The problem is both interesting and non-trivial because while both n and each N i are large, the number of samples that can be drawn is bounded by a constant, c . We solve the problem by first modelling it a…
Network-Assisted Resource Allocation with Quality and Conflict Constraints for V2V Communications
2018
The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has recently established in Rel. 14 a network-assisted resource allocation scheme for vehicular broadcast communications. Such novel paradigm is known as vehicle--to--vehicle (V2V) \textit{mode-3} and consists in eNodeBs engaging only in the distribution of sidelink subchannels among vehicles in coverage. Thereupon, without further intervention of the former, vehicles will broadcast their respective signals directly to their counterparts. Because the allotment of subchannels takes place intermittently to reduce signaling, it must primarily be conflict-free in order not to jeopardize the reception of signals. We have identified four pivotal types…
Internalization of coxsackievirus A9 is mediated by {beta}2-microglobulin, dynamin, and Arf6 but not by caveolin-1 or clathrin.
2010
ABSTRACT Coxsackievirus A9 (CAV9) is a member of the human enterovirus B species within the Enterovirus genus of the family Picornaviridae . It has been shown to utilize αV integrins, particularly αVβ6, as its receptors. The endocytic pathway by which CAV9 enters human cells after the initial attachment to the cell surface has so far been unknown. Here, we present a systematic study concerning the internalization mechanism of CAV9 to A549 human lung carcinoma cells. The small interfering RNA (siRNA) silencing of integrin β6 subunit inhibited virus proliferation, confirming that αVβ6 mediates the CAV9 infection. However, siRNAs against integrin-linked signaling molecules, such as Src, Fyn, R…
On surrogating 0–1 knapsack constraints
1999
In this note, we present a scheme for tightening 0–1 knapsack constraints based on other knapsack constraints surrogating.
Integrable Hamiltonian systems with swallowtails
2010
International audience; We consider two-degree-of-freedom integrable Hamiltonian systems with bifurcation diagrams containing swallowtail structures. The global properties of the action coordinates in such systems together with the parallel transport of the period lattice and corresponding quantum cells in the joint spectrum are described in detail. The relation to the concept of bidromy which was introduced in Sadovski´ı and Zhilinski´ı (2007 Ann. Phys. 322 164–200) is discussed.
On Utilizing Stochastic Non-linear Fractional Bin Packing to Resolve Distributed Web Crawling
2014
This paper deals with the extremely pertinent problem of web crawling, which is far from trivial considering the magnitude and all-pervasive nature of the World-Wide Web. While numerous AI tools can be used to deal with this task, in this paper we map the problem onto the combinatorially-hard stochastic non-linear fractional knapsack problem, which, in turn, is then solved using Learning Automata (LA). Such LA-based solutions have been recently shown to outperform previous state-of-the-art approaches to resource allocation in Web monitoring. However, the ever growing deployment of distributed systems raises the need for solutions that cope with a distributed setting. In this paper, we prese…
Coxsackievirus B3 VLPs purified by ion exchange chromatography elicit strong immune responses in mice
2014
Coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) is an important cause of acute and chronic viral myocarditis, and dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). Although vaccination against CVB3 could significantly reduce the incidence of serious or fatal viral myocarditis and various other diseases associated with CVB3 infection, there is currently no vaccine or therapeutic reagent in clinical use. In this study, we contributed towards the development of a CVB3 vaccine by establishing an efficient and scalable ion exchange chromatography-based purification method for CVB3 virus and baculovirus-insect cell-expressed CVB3 virus-like particles (VLPs). This purification system is especially relevant for vaccine development and produ…
Projekt komputu armii litewskiej z 1703 r. wraz z podziałem na poszczególne chorągwie i regimenty
2017
W niniejszym artykule zostaje wprowadzone do obiegu naukowego nowe źródło do badań nad historią armii litewskiej w okresie wielkiej wojny północnej (1700–1721), którym jest projekt komputu z 1703 r. Znajduje się on w Bibliotece Kórnickiej Polskiej Akademii Nauk w rękopisie o sygnaturze 985. W inwentarzu rękopisów biblioteki widnieje natomiast jako komput z 1706 r. Trudno jednak ustalić faktyczną datę jego powstania. Możliwe jest jedynie oszacowanie pewnych cezur. Sporządzony został na pewno przed 27 listopada 1703 r. (wprowadzenie w życie postanowień rady senatu w Jaworowie o pozbawieniu urzędów Sapiehów). Natomiast prawdopodobnie powstał przed lub w trakcie sejmu lubelskiego (11 czerwca – …
Structural Insight into CVB3-VLP Non-Adjuvanted Vaccine
2020
Coxsackievirus B (CVB) enteroviruses are common pathogens that can cause acute and chronic myocarditis, dilated cardiomyopathy, aseptic meningitis, and they are hypothesized to be a causal factor in type 1 diabetes. The licensed enterovirus vaccines and those currently in clinical development are traditional inactivated or live attenuated vaccines. Even though these vaccines work well in the prevention of enterovirus diseases, new vaccine technologies, like virus-like particles (VLPs), can offer important advantages in the manufacturing and epitope engineering. We have previously produced VLPs for CVB3 and CVB1 in insect cells. Here, we describe the production of CVB3-VLPs with enhanced pro…
The battle of Konotop as recorded in Cossack chronicles
2016
The battle of Konotop on June 28, 1659 has gained particular resonance as a historical event in the independent Ukraine since the historical narrative has begun to be re-examined and ‘reconstructed’ in a new political climate. This has been possible since the theme of historical confrontation between Ukraine and Russia became free for discussion after many centuries of ta- boo. Interest in the subject has grown and progress in historiography may be acknowledged thanks to several new works published in recent years: these have provided a well-grounded picture of the event, while also raising a number of questions that still need to be investigated for a correct inter- pretation1. The chronic…
