RENAL SALT WASTING: UNA SINDROME DA INAPPROPRIATA SECREZIONE DI URODILATINA? UNO STUDIO PILOTA
2022
The Psalter of the Cathedral of Valencia is not a complete work, but was restored in the nineteenth century from different versions of the biblical text, one of which is lost by now. With thi…
A geophysical and geochemical approach for seawater intrusion assessment in the Acquedolci coastal aquifer (Northern Sicily)
2007
Vertical electrical sounding (VES’) surveys and chemical analyses of groundwater have been executed in the coastal plain of Acquedolci (Northern Sicily), with the aim to circumscribe seawater intrusion phenomena. This urbanized area is representative of a more general problem interesting most of Mediterranean littoral areas, where intensive overdraft favors a heavy seawater intrusion through the coastline. Aquifer resistivity seems decisively to be conditioned by the chlorine and magnesium content in the main aquifer of the region. Schlumberger VES’, together with piezometric and chemical–physical information of groundwater, allowed us to perform hydrogeological and geophysical elaborations…

Synthesis of Dienedioic and Tetraenedioic Acids by Oxidative Coupling of Unsaturated Carboxylic Acid Dienediolates by 1,2-Diiodoethane
1993
Abstract Acyclic and cyclic unsaturated carboxylic acids 1 to 4 are most easily converted to unsaturated dicarboxylic acids 5 to 8 by oxidative coupling of their diene- or triene-diolates by 1,2-diiodoethane. This procedure improves formerly reported oxidations by iodine or silver salts.

Physiological HEPES Buffer Proposed as a Calibrator for pH Measurement in Human Blood
1999
Abstract N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-piperazine-N'-2-ethanesulfonic acid, known as HEPES buffer, with p K in the physiological range was studied for use as an alternative to conventional phosphate buffer for the calibration of pH in modern clinical analyzers. In different series of aqueous equimolar HEPES buffer, pH was measured at 37 °C with a capillary glass electrode standardized previously using phosphate, and variations due to changes in total HEPES buffer concentration (0.025 to 0.320 mol/l), and NaCl (0 to 0.250 mol/l) were monitored. For 0.05 equimolar HEPES buffer without NaCl, the pH of 7.362 ± 0.003 (n = 15) obtained coincided well with the reference pH (7.364) from the National Institute…
Modification of the Selectivity Properties of Tubular Ceramic Membranes after Alkaline Treatment
2017
International audience; This work focuses on the selectivity modification of ceramic membranes after a mild alkaline treatment. Filtration of pure saltwater solutions was carried out with commercial titania membranes before and after the treatment. After treatment, the rejection of NaF significantly decreased, while the rejection of NaCl and NaBr increased. Additionally, NaI and Na 2 SO 4 remained close to zero. Pore size and electrical charge being almost unchanged, only significant modifications in the dielectric effects can explain this modification of selectivity. Therefore, the surface chemistry and the interaction (nature and magnitude) with the solvent and with the species present in…
The effect of alternating different water qualities on accumulation and leaching of solutes in a Mediterranean cracking soil
2002
The relevance of bypass flow on water flow, solute or pesticide transport is becoming increasingly recognized. Recent investigations proved that soil salinization may be influenced by bypass flow, i.e. the rapid transport of water and solutes via macropores and/or shrinkage cracks to subsoil and groundwater. This paper explores the role of bypass flow in the process of accumulation and leaching of solutes, as well as of sodium, in a Mediterranean cracking soil irrigated with saline/sodic waters. The results of bypass flow experiments performed on undisturbed soil cores showed that leaching of solutes occurred in concomitance with bypass fluxes when a low salinity solution was alternated wit…
