Salivary gland choristoma (SGCh) is defined as the presence of normal salivary tissue in an abnormal location. It is a rare entity in oral and maxillofacial region and its ethiology is unknown. The typical presentation of salivary gland heterotopia is an asymptomatic mass that may or may not produce saliva. Some examples of ectopic salivary tissue in the pituitary gland, in the lymph nodes, in the middle ear, in the neck, in the jaw, in the thyroid gland, in the mediastinum and in the rectum have been documented in literature. Background: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is highly prevalent in the Spanish primary care (PC) setting and the leading cause of disability in Spain. The aim of this study was to evaluate several key psychometric properties of the Sheehan Disability Scale (SDS) in patients with or without MDD and varying degrees of symptom severity using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). Method: A total of 1,704 PC patients participating in the PsicAP clinical trial completed the SDS and PHQ-9. Alternative surgical management of oroantral fistula using auricular cartilage

One of the clinical complications encountered by oral and maxillofacial surgeons is oroantral communication (OAC) with subsequent formation of oroantral fistula (OAF). Many techniques and treatment modalities have been described for the management of OAC and OAF. There are advantages and disadvantages of all these techniques. We report a 21-year-old male patient who was admitted to our department for the presence of an OAF and was treated using an auricular cartilage graft. This technique may be useful to treat OAF and to provide a solid alveolar bone site for subsequent pre-implant surgery. Key words:Auricular cartilage, implant surgery, oroantral fistula.

En esta comunicación se presentan los resultados de un estudio desarrollado con jóvenes valencianos para conocer las competencias en salud ambiental que adquieren en su paso por la educación obligatoria. Para ello se elaboró un cuestionario, validado por un grupo de expertos y sometido a una prueba piloto. El cuestionario aborda su concepto de salud, así como las relaciones que son capaces de establecer entre la salud y el medio ambiente y plantea cinco problemas de salud ambiental. Several epidemiological studies have shown an inverse association between the consumption of polyphenol-rich foods and risk of cardiovascular diseases. However, accuracy and reliability of these studies may be increased using urinary total polyphenol excretion (TPE) as a biomarker for total polyphenol intake.
